DC actually needs more books like that, where a random element of the DC Universe can be picked up and showcased without them infringing on other books, and where basically, minis and one-shots can be collected in one place without being launched as a "new mini-series" every time.

Something like the old Showcase Presents or DC Comics Presents titles. Hell, all the old Anthology style books crammed extra stories of characters you might not know into them after the Batman, Superman, Flash or Aquaman, Hawkman, Spectre or Deadman stories were done.

I'd like to see Trautmann write the Global Guardians - maybe use Fire & Ice as the P.O.V. since they are no longer members of the G.G., but they ARE commonly seen in the DCU, JLA pinch hitters and members of Checkmate.

Yes. Trautmann would be right for it. Hell, have The Shield be involved. Patriotic American heroes clash so wonderfully with the Global Guardians.
This. I always seem to agree with Retro315. Someone make him an editor at DC or something.

    What would you think?

I think a mini would be nice, but a one-shot would be better used to establish them. Especially since they'd need a few new members in their ranks with the deaths of Freedom Beast, Gloss, Tasmanian Devil and possibly Sandstorm. Plus we don't know Jet, Crimson Fox, or Manticore's situation.

Plus we're also not sure of the others. Some we know were in the Ultramarine Corps last time we saw them, since they were like a modern version of the Guardians.

I think, if they do, they should use international characters who have actually appeared in books beyond the "Global Guardians group shots" and have some actual character development to them. Don't just say "he's from Sweden, she's from Kenya"...there's got to be more development than that.

Some of the characters I'd like to see are:

    Red Star
    Dr. Light
    Jack O' Lantern
    Crimson Fox
    The Olympian
    Jet
    Knight & Squire
    Osiris
    August General in Iron
    Iman

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, but those are just who come to mind...and bring back Tasmanian Devil and bring in a non-committed American hero, too...maybe someone like the Shield.
There's no sense in nonsense when the heat's hot.

I figured that would end up being the case. What nation does Achilles protect in Europe?

At least this still preserves (the original) The Olympian's status set up in the WONDER GIRL mini.

Yeah, it was a one off remark, but Busiek confirmed it online. He also said Witchfire is gone if he ever gets a chance to put it to print.

Darn...there goes the conscience of the team. I wonder who the partners are now...

Was that in the Back in Action arc with her, Bluejay, Nightwing, Aquaman 2, Veteran, Livewire and Supes stuck on the alien ship? I have all of Busieks Superman stuff, but don't remember the reference.

Sure, why not? International teams are interesting. I'd rather like that DC would portray Global Guardians as real people rather than stereotypes based on American imaginations.

What's the original Olympian's status again? And when did busiek change the Power Company?

Skyrocket is still with the Power Company or has returned to it. she was with Josiah Power, Striker Z and Bork in a recent issue of the Justice League when the Power Company members were injured while hired by S.T.A.R. Labs.

I thought Olympian (Achilles) had taken residence in the US in the latest issue of Wonder Woman and was now going by the Warkiller alias.

The original Olympian was last seen in the Trinity series. He was killed along with Lionheart in the altered reality but i would assume once the true reality was reestablished that he was alive again but to my knowledge neither have been seen since.

Yes. it was a vague reference. I didn't get it until Busiek explained it afterward.

I believe, he moved into the same apartment building as Wonder Girl. It was implied that he would begin helping her had her solo adventures continued.

Did the issue overtly say she was on the team? Otherwise, it could have just been her visiting/backing up old friends.

So, maybe it is The Olympian from the Global Guardians in THE OUTSIDERS #31.

Gail Simone aleady confirmed that the Olympian is Achilles, the one she created.

As for Skyrocket, she was with the PC when they appeared in JLA two months ago.
