Colossus, the Lovable Russian Commie Appreciation

I know there was a promo-piece with the Thing and Colossus squaring off, but not sure if that is a definite fight. If it is, and Thing also beats Colossus with Jugg's powers (which will happen if they do fight), then that's a wrap for Juggolossus, and makes normal powered Colossus the biggest wimp of all the Marvel bricks. Colossus haters will rejoice, and besides being a real cool character, my favorite of all fiction, I will have to concede that any character in the MU could defeat Colossus.

What they should do next is make him a herald of Galactus, who loses to Deadpool or Jessica Jones, by sacrificing himself to help people. Of course, in the beginning of the fight, he is full on power cosmic, to show how tough he is. But he holds back, since if he went full out, then he might hurt someone (and this from a guy who snapped Riptides neck since he could not bear the screams of his teammates and the Morlocks being shredded behind him, and is "made of rage"). Then have a cameo of Kitty telling him he is an idiot and why they can't be together anymore.

That should be followed up by him becoming the embodiment of Eternity, and lose to the Protector or Maria Hill. They outsmart him, and shoot him in the eye, and he lets himself lose since he knows if he actually fights back, he might hurt someone. Mind you, in the beginning have him winning, to show how much tougher Protector and Maria Hill are than Peter.

Then he gets the Infinity Gauntlet, and Pixie and Rockslide take him down. Kitty shows up and tells him he is an idiot.

So then, he joins Brian Woods team of X-Men, and gets beat by every new bad guy within the first 4 panels of the fight, and the new bad guy later on gets taken out by Domino or Pixie.

It's a great time to be a Colossus fan, folks! This ranks up with when they killed him off for a few years!

I think I agree with all of you. But let's keep in mind this isn't a Colossus problem. This is and always been a writer/editor problem with Colossus. Petey is simply a fictional character and the writers/editors decide to make him look like a tool. I'm very disappointed in KG and the Marvel editorial staff.

Well, it looks like what we thought could happen (but hoped wouldn’t) did in fact happen. Marvel jobs Colossus so Rulk can come off with a win. They can take that moral victory stuff and stick it up their ass. I tip my hat to “Romus”, who refused to believe anything different would happen this time around. I don’t blame KG, I’m sure he did what he was told.
On a separate note, we find through Colossus inner dialogue that he can revert back to his human form. He chooses to stay armored because he feels he can control the Cyttorak urges like that.

Hell yeah. Man, still pissed at Marvel. And even more pissed now that I saw that the Avengers got both wins in AvX #1 too. Even after all that, I still say Spider Man will draw or win against Colossus. And the way they had the Thing treat Namor like a joke ... prepare for the same when he fights Colossus.

Huge Rasputin-clan fan here. I felt that the Ruskie was well written, and we finally got a solid explanation for the whole confusion around why he never reverts to his fleshy form. Good answer, by the way. Well done, Gillen!
As for the battle --- C'mon Colossus fans!?! He WAILED on Rulk. It was a sure-fire-win! He LET Rulk beat him. In the grand scheme of favorite-character-duke-outs, and given the absurdity of AvX thus far, how are y'all NOT a little bit happy that he didn't just get owned legitimately? He gave in. He LET IT HAPPEN.
If Illyana gets her ass handed to her like Mags and Namor did, I pray its for similiar altruistic reasons because that at least adds emphasis to how effing douchey these Avengers are.

But how about the Water Color line, eh? AWESOME!
And its not like he's down for good. We know this. Keep the faith, kiddos!

yana, I am happy that Petey was gonna either kick the living crap out of Rulk or possibly kill him. What I am unhappy about is yet another sacrifice on his part. I am sick and tired of it. The writers need to evolve and let go of that annoying character trait. Millar had a good angle on Petey in UXM (yeah, I know it wasn't 616). Other writers can do the same. Shit, they retcon crap all the time.

KG, GL and Marvel editors need a history lesson:

1. Colossus does not bleed
2. Colossus reverts to human form when unconscious

Curious thoughts:

1. What do the runes on demon Petey mean? Why is he so vastly different than Marko? Yes, I know KG said it's the mutant gene + the combination of Cyttorak that makes Petey look different and have a different power set.
2. For Petey to "power-down" like that, he must think himself a greater threat than Hope. Otherwise, why do it? With him out of the picture, the X-Men just lost their biggest brick. Surely he knew that would affect the outcome of the ultimate fight.
3. Petey "vanished" for a while, but "came back." Ok, does that mean Cyttorak took control for a few seconds and then demon Petey came back? So, Petey went from aggro factor of 10 to 9? Yeah...so? What's the point of that line? It doesn't add up for me.
4. Petey tears off his new helm and what appears to be something on his chest (I could be wrong on the chest thing). Yeah, so what? Marko as Juggy losing his helm didn't make him lose his powers. It only made him vulnerable to a mental attack. So, demon Petey wasn't powered-down, but Rulk was able to beat him into reverting back to regular Colossus form? Uhhh...if demon Petey is so vastly powerful, it should take Rulk a very long time to accomplish that (and I'm not sure that should be possible anyway). Illyana was able to make Petey come back from demon form. KG was coy if it was her magic or if Petey "heard" her voice and returned to normal.
5. If emo Petey continues and he gets back with Kitty (as it appears to be the case), I am dropping all X-Men titles. Shit, I WILL drop all Marvel titles. I did it when Marvel killed him off, so it ain't no thang for me to do it again. Yeah, I'm a homer and that's how much I love this character. Know the saying never again? Well...NEVER AGAIN!!!

Even this I do not like because it was in that demon form ... feels like cheating. If I were the writer I would have had half the fight continue in normal Colossus mode, as it was in AvX #2, and then Colossus goes Juggernaut (not demon) berserk and has a clear upper hand.

That's my point. Everything's been so inconsistent with Petey that making his character and power set evolve wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Shit, most of the artists can't even get his height and mass correct, so what's the big deal if his personality shifts (minus the mind fuck from Cyttorak)? Notice how Petey has an accent with some writers and with others it's almost non-existent? I also believe Wood mentioned (in a reply to my question) that he won't write Petey with the lame "da"/"nyet" crap we read. So, there ya go, change is possible.

The whole fight is still making me laugh a little, of all the ways to beat Colossus he lets himself get punched into submission LMAO I like your optimism Yana but Im already seeing all the Rulk fans say Rulk was just baiting Peter into wailing/punching him so they would collapse Utopia and that it was rulks plan all along and he wasnt losing at all, just playing possum for abit. Anyway you look at it, it doesnt look good for Colossus. What I still dont get is doesnt Cytorak want his Avatar to show himself as unstoppable/unbeatable on earth why doesnt he strip Peter of the power if hes making him look like a fool?
