Agreed, it's good news. I like Kirk's pencils and he seems like a good fit for New Mutants...

    This makes me exceedingly happy.

I've long thought that what New Mutants needs is an artist who A) is fast enough not to need too many fill-ins, B) has an accessible style and C) can deliver good character work. That would really bring out the book's strength as a character-based team book and make it appealing to new readers.

My thinking was that either Immonen or Kirk would be ideal, and now we're actually getting one of them!

Fingers crossed he'll stay around long after this initial arc!

Havok83, yes on the character, but sounds to me like "dead" might not be exactly what happens...

    spoilers:
Why would her death have a "significant effect on her visuals"? I think the dead one is obviously Magma - "more magma-ish" = in the ground.

    This news is sensational.
I hope he is teamed with the same colorist he worked with in his Nation X story about Magneto. That was an excellent fit. Did he ink that story as well? Since he said he would be inking his own pencils for New Mutants...?

As for Karma.... could this be the return of Phat Karma? Challenging visual? Because she takes up so much space? Or will poor Miss Mahn find herself horribly scarred during Second Coming? Will she fall victim to the common affliction of psychics? Phoenix Host? Date Cyclops?

Either way... Kirk's inclusion is a welcome and exciting development!

We do not know to what extent she will be used. It could flashbacks, dream, alternate version of her....

I was hoping he would find his way onto an Avengers title. Seems like a de-motion somehow.

Agreed. 7-8 issues is a good start though.

I love Kirk's work it's very consistent and he's great at storytelling and displaying emotion in the characters.

I hope he stays on for a while, but eight issues is a great start.
