Default Green Arrow can not catch a break

    http://www.newsarama.com/comics/wond...se-100403.html
Focus on the twice-destroyed Star City? Krull: "We really want to put a focus, and make it associated with Green Arrow like Gotham City is with Batman." Johns said that Star City is the most important city in Brightest Day." "To me, Star City was always boring," Robinson said. "It was just Seattle, or some city in the northwest." Robinson indicated it will have much more of a character now.
ITS NEVER BEEN IN THE NORTHWEST! it was never an analog for Seattle, Mikes grells stories happened IN SEATTLE! when Ollie and Dinah moved there in the longbow hunters!

Star City has always (since like the early 70's?) been just north of San Franciso! NOT THE NORTHWEST!

Krull and DC have me interested in Green Arrow come this summer.

Issue one script sounds amazing according to Johns.

Well, he can't exactly diss it, he's basically running the show over there now.

And yeah, I'll see what general fan reaction/reviews are before jumping into GA, but it does look interesting, and I love the character, so this might be a good time to get back into his stuff.

EDIT: Also, I had no idea Star City was in Norcal. For some reason I always imagined it was in the south-east.

At one point I believe Star City was more of a Chicago-analogue.

YEah but i think that was Pre-Maggin, but not Chicago (but they did use the Chicago city map for Star City only mirrored.. so the shore of Lake Michigan become the Pacific :P)

No, I'm fairly certain it's always been north of San Francisco and Oakland. I may need to pull out my Atlas of the DC Universe to double check though.

Well, it does make Ollie and Dinah's move to Seattle kind of pointless, but otherwise, nope.

I'd probably be a little annoyed if I was a resident of Seattle, since Robinson just called the city boring. If I was a Green Arrow fan, I'd probably find it a bit off-putting that the writer seemingly isn't familiar with the character's history/setting.

Well, if we're just nitpicking, I'm peeved that Canary isn't wearing her long coat AGAIN on the new BOP cover.

I think Green Arrow has had some great runs with some really awesome creators: Jack Kirby. Denny O'Neil. Neal Adams. Mike Grell. Elliot S! Maggin.

This is true. Don't forget Dick Dillin, who drew a lot of those Maggin stories. I'm also quite fond of the early '80s run in Detective Comics by Joey Cavalieri & Shawn McManus.

My nitpick of the day is that Martian Manhunter is back in that goofy speedo. I loved his full-body Martian Pride getup. Made him look more regal.
