Perfect choice. He'll definitely do Bucky justice, especially if they end up Winter Soldier-ing it up! His work on Kings was excellent.
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.
so it's going to be an episode of every show on the Wb with plactic looking pretty people. Well, my expectations of this one dropped very low very fast
He looks the part.
Really looking forward to this movie.
i think he's a good choice, not really thrilled, but i give him a chance for sure.
Since when does Hollywood NOT hire "pretty people" to play a role of a younger male star/co-star in a tent-pole production that's not a comedy?
Or do you think Seth Rogan or Steve Buscemi or someone like that would make the perfect Bucky?
Welcome to Hollywood. It wasn't created yesterday.
I'd kill for a Coen Brothers Cap film with Buscemi as Bucky, John Goodman as Union Jack and Jeff Bridges as Cap.
"That shield really tied the uniform together."
"The man created an artificial lifeform that caught fire when exposed to oxygen. He's not exactly a lightweight."
"You see what happens, Hitler, when you fuck England up the arse?"
"My only hope is that the SS kills me before the Red Skull can cut my dick off."
"Hey, careful, man, there's a super-soldier formula here!"
"No, Falsworth, it did not look like Mengele was about to crack."
"The man in the swimming trunks, Cap. Worthy fuckin' adversary."
"Who's in swimming trunks, Falsworth?"
"Shut the fuck up, Bucky."

By all indications (lengthy contract), he can't possibly be doing otherwise. Just not in this first film. Seems that the Cap movie is entirely set in WWII and sets up the Avengers movie finding him in ice. I'd presume they'd still "kill" off Bucky at the end of the first movie, then either bring him back as Winter Soldier in a second. OR perhaps a second film would tell a modern story with flashbacks to WWII. But if you're signing the kid for 4 or 5 films, then you're clearly not stretching out an either WWII-based franchise OR a flashback-oriented franchise. They want to leave the door open for Winter Soldier. Which would make a great third film (i wouldn't jump right into it in a second flick.)
Of course, the key is getting there. Box office will determine that.
I'm concerned that Evans still has not been "offically" confirmed for Cap by Marvel or Evans himself. This could be a fake out and Stan is Cap not Bucky. Otherwise why would he be signed for five films as Bucky? That makes no sense to me.
The current creative team on the Batman movies won’t say so, but one suspects that the reason they are so adamantly against Robin showing up is that they fear even the suggestion of homoeroticism. Evidently, Marvel doesn’t have that fear, or else they realize that Ed Brubaker has made Captain America’s sidekick so integral to the story that they cannot ignore Bucky. I would also like to see Namor, Namora, the Human Torch and Toro, at least in cameos. They might also throw in Whizzer, Miss America, Spitfire and Union Jack. By introducing these characters, Marvel will be able to not only set up an Avengers movie with the Captain America film, but an Invaders movie, too.
Stan certainly looks the part. Much more so than the guy they have playing Cap. Now if the two of them can just act, this thing has a chance of being decent.
