I wonder if she'll be involved in the upcoming Artifacts crossover event ?![]()
The art is very un-Top Cow. ick.
Patience will appear and play a key role in Artifacts, but Artifacts won't necessarily directly impact the Magdalena series. That's what Ron meant when he said the series would stand on its own.

I find myself very interested in this character. Can anyone tell me how new-reader friendly this series would be? If it's not new reader friendly, are there a couple of trades I should check out to get some back story?
Good first issue :thumbs up
However, Nelson Blake shouldn't be scared of drawing womanly hips on a female character. In some panels, it was almost as if Patience had the lower body of a man.
Oh, it's reader friendly. The whole issue covers a lot of exposition without feeling drowned in it. And there's a two-page spread in the back detailing some of the character's history...I was good, and I've read none of the earlier stuff...
You'll be fine!! (Oh, and it's goood!)
Do pick it up. I actually got it today without knowing much of the character or her universe. I decided to broaden my comic reading outside of Marvel so I made leap of faith and I'm glad I did. I really like the book and it is pretty easy to understand. No need for a back story.

Thanks for the welcome! I hope to become a regular here in the Indy Forums once I restart my collection and fill it with non-Marvel stuff (I stopped collecting in 97.)
Any recommendations that are ongoing? Aside from The Darkness, I'm picking that up whenever #84 comes out.
Check out Angelus. Also by Ron Marz, featuring painted art by Sejic that is over and above what he's doing on Witchblade, IMHO.
Three issues are out now, and like Magdelena, it's easy to pick up and follow. Just give it a flip through, and see if you dig the art or not.
