    Default Cataloging a Collection

I've started cataloging the collection. At first I was thinking it was around 300, but I just finished off my first 100 silver age bags and I'm halfwayish through a small box.

This is my list so far. It is a random jumble. I'm alphabetizing them and then adding in the publication date. Some of them are confusing because the names change so I try to list every name change with its number and date to avoid cross referencing changes in the stories. I haven't kept up with comics in years so I'm randomly confused as I type them in.

The Avenger's changed from The Avenger's to the Mighty Avenger's between 61 and 62. The moth's seem to flow properly and it looks as if they just changed/adjusted/tweaked the title perhaps?

    IcyHound has me askin':

Did it change in the indicia? I don't recall that it did, but I'm not at all sure. That's more applicable than the cover.

Although, they're your comics, so you're free to catalog them as you choose.

It didn't change in the indicia, which Icyhound may or may not know is the small print at the bottom of the first interior page (or, ocassionally, the inside front cover), that is, the indexing information, hence the term.

    So:

The Avengers - the word 'mighty' is on the cover only and not part of the official title for a few issues in the 60s. Checking here (click to go to the webpage)I see it's No.s 62-9. Similarly, there are 11 issues of The New Gods, of which this webpage at the Grand Comicbook Database tells me you have the first four.

If you are really ready to be seriously confused, click here for Showcase presents 'Firehair.'

I was pulling the date from the inside cover where it says things like Volume One Episode 22 issue 1969. So I should go back and recheck the volume number info and such... I'll go read and confuse myself more.

Its all randomly jumbled together. There is everything from Superman to Disney comics and Huck Finn and a mummy.

I need to go pick up a few hundred more bags and boards.

For those that have helped me with information I wanted to say thank you. I just finished my third 100 comic box and I still have 4 and a half packed boxes of unbagged/unboarded comics to go.

Off to the store tomorrow for some more. However, its gotten me back into it and I've picked up some stuff for me to read., so I'm happy.

I haven't even started to sort the non super hero stuff. There is a lot of Disney. Disney cartoon characters, Disney movies. There are cartoons galore, almost all the popular stuff I remember watching on TV. A lot of stuff from a publishing house called Gold Key and stuff from Dell.

The oldest one I've found so far is 1954, War of the Worlds, they mostly range from 60 (when he was 13) to 74, right before my brother was born.

I didn't want to be spamy and post my updated list since its now 19 pages long :)
