i came across the mystery of taman shud last night:
essentially, the australian police find a dead man in the 1940's with no identification, no immediate cause of death, all of his clothing tags cut off, links to a suitcase & a mysterious note with the phrase "taman shud" written on it hidden inside an inner pocket of the man's clothing.
the phrase, meaning ended or finished, was torn from the last page of a collection of poems by omar khayyam. police were able to find a copy of this book with the last page missing, and the following markings left behind:
no one has been able to decipher it.
most think he was either a spy, crazy or both. no one knows for sure what exactly happened or who he was.
stuff like this really intrigues me. i had trouble sleeping last night because of it, but in a good way. it makes me think, whether or not there's actually any real mystery behind it, and i like that.
anyone else come across some good mysteries that they want to share?
