Default Supergirl beats up attempted rapists

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9GXEpgQwm0

Man Helen was so cute back then in that Supergirl outfit.

What is wrong with these two guys? Shouldn't they know not to mess with Supergirl?

    They're dumb.
I mean seriously, she showed heat vision. And he still wanted to try and fight her?

After she picked Max Headroom up and then blew him with her super breath the other guy should have gotten the clue.

I have nothing against Supergirl per se but that clip has just reinforced my opinion that the SG movie was crapola of the highest caliber and that I've been right to avoid seeing it for all these years.

Seriously, that clip was as cheesy as all hell.

And like someone above said...she shows her heat vision powers and they still wanna fight?

I was wondering if someone would recognize him when I clicked on this topic. He was also the father of the young girl in the mall in the recent Dawn of the Dead remake.

Actually I guess it wasn't that recent. LOL.

Also, now that I think about it, saying "she picked Max Headroom up and then blew him with her super breath" seems rather naughty...and reminds me of another movie I once saw. LOL.

I liked some of the flight scenes in this movie, especially the opening shot of her landing in this clip, and the scene where she has her first flight. Today, it would all be done using blue/green screens and cgi which still has a cartoonish/video game quality.

She showed her heat vision at the end after already showing other powers...

Yeah I agree the other posters calling it cheesy seem to forget this was made in 1983.

I was thinking the same thing concerning that one guy from Superman Returns who tried to fire a headshot at Superman. Despite the fact that he knew bullets do nothing against him.

A.) It's supposed to show how sexist people are. "She's just a girl, thus no threat" is supposed to be the sexist subtext.

B.) On the "text" level rather than the subtext one, I imagine nobody on Earth is supposed to know who Supergirl is yet. Then again, the various superpowers should have tipped them off that they had a problem, right? But I guess them's truckers ain't too bright. They keep on coming, 'cause they see "a gurl"! That's the other subtext--"truckers = dumbasses" apparently.

On an extremely superficial level, every now and then someone robs a bank in Metropolis and Keystone/Central. Not everyone was meant for the Ivy League.

Don't some thugs still pull guns on Superman?

When it was made is irrelevant and has no bearing on whether a film is cheesy or not. It has to do with the craftsmanship and talent of the scriptwriter, director, actors etc, etc. Superman The Movie was made in 1979 but that wasn't cringingly cheesy because it was simply a better made film, with a much better script.

Likewise there's plenty of cheesy films being made today and there's also plenty of really good ones too...and that's how it's always been, pretty much. If a film is badly directed with a really clunky and cringe inducing script it’s just a bad film…then, now and forever.

I though Supergirl looked like a poorly made film back in 1983.
