Damn, I really wanted to see Rick Grimes team up with Spawn and Obama.

Can we maybe get a one-shot out of the deal someday?

Image captions are wrong, Kirkman specifies that Invincible is not a member, as the whole point of the series is what happens on Earth while Invincible is away. Details, people, god is in the details!

They're actually using the name Guardians of the Globe? I thoughgt that was part of their poke at marvel, taking off from Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Guardians of the Globe have been a part of the Invincible series since issue 8.

Kirkman had some valid points. And he is absolutely right about Geoff Johns and DC being whiny babies about not wanting to do crossovers with Marvel because they poked fun at them. They seriously need to get over it. It could be huge for the industry.

Still not dealing with the knocked up girlfriend in the regular book.

And I was looking forward to Obama doing nothing in comic books like in real life.

At first i thought the teasers were a little douche-y, and i am not going to say Robert to a little swipe at the Bendis in this interview but it did sorta seem to go there. BUT i will not get into fan boy speculation instead i will say that Mr. Kirkman is 100% on the money about what DC and Marvel need to do!

I don't wanna see a comic book world where DC or Marvel is no more or Image or any other industry. I think some times fans (my self included) take a lot of this stuff to heart in a way that's borderline psychotic.

Dc and Marvel shouldn't just do a crossover i think they should do an creator trade for a month and let their top teams do a little run on each others books. Like Benids and Coipel on Justice league and Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis doing a quick avengers story. for like three issues or something. That would Blow sales up, then Have an X-men Titans Crossover and Avengers/JLA 2, and Daredevil Batman it would be killer.

Robert Kirkman just gained a new fan with his pragmatic and grownup take on whats going on in comics. Its not about eating each other alive its about telling good stories and enjoying the medium.

I feel better about comics Kirkman rules.

It got people talking about the book which is cool since it'll probably feature a lot of characters most comic fans haven't heard of. I think without Invincible the Guardians is a tough sell.

I don't think there's anything mean spirited about the jabs. Bendis and the guys at Marvel have a sense of humour. I really doubt they are going to be offended. It was pretty funny seeing each of the ads come out.

Anyway a Kirkman team book sounds cool. Can't wait to see it.

Kirkman comes across as a class act.

I may actually wind up buying my first Image comic because of this interview.

I respectfully disagree with some of the things Kirkman said.

I believe that some fans are responding directly to the "Us vs. Them" mentality that certain writers and editors have cultivated. It's gone beyond just "poking fun" to outright insults towards other characters, books, and even creators. How many convention panels seem more like pro wrestling promos than about the fun of comics? When the professionals engage in this kind of polarization, no one should be surprised when some fans respond in return. Kirkman seems to lay a lot of the blame at the fans' doorstep while absolving his fellow creators of the same behavior.

Marvel isn't trying to say, "You guys tried to screw retailers by tricking them into ordering all of these books that they won't be able to sell!"

A nice bit of revisionist history, but that's exactly what Marvel said. Brevoort stated how he was contacted by retailers who were stuck with too many DC books, so Marvel had to save the day. In any case, it just polarized fans again. It seems hard to on one hand say, "Trash those other guys' books and get a prize!" and then turn around and say, "I love those other guys' books! Why's everybody mad? It's all in fun." Where's the fun in a professional equating a book, with a fan following, with garbage? How is that making comic books more of a community?

What's fun to me about comics are good stories and art with characters I enjoy.
