Man, DC sure is making the best of their partnership with JMS.

I'll be picking this up (while thanking God it isn't a monthly, as my pull-list for 2010 is already bursting thanks to DC)

    J. Michael Straczynski: Starting with a graphic novel and a potential regular monthly series thereafter, the book is about the Samaritan X Hospital, based in Gotham, which specializes in individuals with super-powers. At its core, it’s a human drama set against the backdrop of super-human characters from the DC Universe, where the skills of ordinary men and women may mean life or death for the strongest among us.
Sold. Sign me up for the OGN, no doubt. Although as far as an ongoing, I'll withhold judgment until I see how the OGN turns out.

Honestly, this is the first project at DC from JMS I'm REALLY excited about. This is something new and different and having been a long time fan of his work, I'm sure JMS will bring something special to this project. Some great news here.

Definately sounds interesting, though IMO Gotham's the wrong place to set such a series. Doubt that'll change the quality any, though.

The concept sounds great, but there's one part of that summary that ruins it for me, "based in Gotham". As a long time Bat reader, I call BS. Unless they just build this damn thing, there's no way it fits into the Gotham skyline and cityscape. Nevermind that Gotham doesn't have as many supes as much as it has crazies. This clearly should have been in Metropolis or even its own original DCU location. Gotham Central worked perfectly and it wasn't really too forcused on super powers as Gotham isn't compared to other DC locations. I just don't see this working set in Gotham.

As nice as the concept sounds, count me as one longtime Batman reader who doesn't want it in their neck of the woods.

I must say this is a first original idea from JMS and DC that I'm interested in.

I mean to see a superhuman hospital in action, is something worth watching.

I am not a fan of hospital dramas at all, and yet I guarantee you that I will NOT miss this little piece of awesomeness.

JMS just keeps on bringin' the awesome! This is why I have complete faith in him, no matter what project he's working on. He enthralled me with Babylon 5, and I have yet to read anything from him that I didn't love.

Can't wait to get my hands on this. JMS rocks!

I love the idea of Samaritan X but doesn't Starlabs already do alot of what he mentions? And no Dr. Midnight love? Don't get me wrong, I'm intrigued, I was just wonder'n........

This kind of reminds me of Power Company, Damage Control (and Iron Heights had a special I think), where the focus is on the support structure in a world with metahumans.

I think the concept is interesting, but a comic book, where the thrust of the story is human drama, with metahumans mainly in the background... I just don't know if that kind of idea can support an ongoing series. But, I suppose that's the reason they're doing the OGN, isn't it?

Omfg, J you are God. This has been a dream comic of mine for years.

I'm so excited, because... well it's just that awesome. But I wouldn't put this as the only Hospital to deal with this, wasn't there one in 52?

Anyway, it'd be great if we get some other known medical practitioners of the DCU in there. Imagine: Dr Midnight! Sarah Stone! And oh my gosh, Tamika!

    I'm so excited.

Sounds cool. I just wonder what it means by "creator-owned in the DCU." Does that mean only JMS can use it?
