Sattler said he disagreed with the assessment that the character was “fridged” (i.e. that her death was pointless). Robinson (the writer of the story) quickly added, “The decision has been controversial and one that I know has been greeted with displeasure by some. I'm sorry if it upset people. In all honesty, they wanted to kill Speedy too, and I said no, so give me some credit for that."![]()
Dammit Robinson!! What happened to "I make no apologies"?!
The Larfleeze who stole Christmas? HELL YES!The writer even added that there would be a Larfleeze Christmas Special this December (although I can’t say whether Johns was joking or not, the audience seemed to love the idea)
Also
OH GOD YES!The individual that approached the microphone after this wanted to know about the possibility of seeing their favorite character – Batman Beyond – in a comic sometime soon. Sattler surprised this person with good news: Batman Beyond would be getting his own comic this June.
Very excited over this Batman Beyond news.
A Shade series sounds awesome as well.
I'm excited for the Batman Beyond mini. Really hope it will have good writer and artist!
"Criminals are a cowardly, superstitious lot." - Dick Grayson
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard." - Damian Wayne
1. I love the idea that Green Arrow is getting a big push. I think Green Arrow is in the top 10 of DC's heroes. I am excited about that.
2. Batman Beyond and a Superman Beyond is great!
3. Big Plans for Shazam and The Marvel Family.....yes!!!
"I don't like you fridged the 6 year old girl"
We didn't fridge her...we just killed her so a male character could have an emotional reaction.
"You make a big deal about legacies, but you keep undoing any changing of the guard."
Hey, Kyle's there, even though he's no longer the lead character of a series, we've crapped over what made him special, and is now the third level character in a team book.
Static Pulse: That's why I like you. You're like four degrees away from being a William Gibson protagonist.
Hm... Lobo fighting Red Lanterns. Sounds awesome on paper (sounds bloody amazing on paper, actually... If you'll excuse the unintentional pun) but I hope this is either a cool one off or a springboard to put the character back on the comics scene *cough cough preferably back in REBELS cough* and not going to be used as an excuse to kill him off.
Shade series sounds cool but... Not sure it's a good idea for an editor to stand there and say 'I'm happy our fans are upset...' I know exactly what he means, but considering the context of 'upset' seems to lean more towards outrage than genuine emotional feeling... Probably not the best use of words there.
Robinson... You are not helping! Wait in the car, please!![]()
He is not making new friends this days.
Oh by the way... The great Green Arrow´s year is going to be a new costume, comic delays and cancellation.
Because Didio is going to have a great idea in the middle of the story, he will change the script to have a "Green Arrow done right" and the team artist will quit.![]()
I am so all over that Shade series.
And even though what Robinson said was a bit eyeroll inducing, I have a feeling the "give me a little credit" was self deprecating and humorous rather than entitlement. It's not his fault Lian died, which I suspected from the beginning and which is why I didn't throw my negative reaction to that stupid event at him.
Doesn't save his writing for the entire CFJ event, of course, but you know.
eh i liked cry for justice the death of roy's daughter was handles fine, they just blew the emotional payoff. That whole comparison with the death of green lanterns girl friend seems overblown plenty of male character bit it in comics but no one flips their lid. I'm looking forward to reading rise and fall in justice league and now i actually care about green arrow.
And i gotta say the barbs marvel throws at DC and the Barbs DC throws back at Marvel are F&%^cking Amateur write your comics shut the F%#$$ck up.
So, let me see if I got this straight:
The people there don't consider what happened to Liam being "fridged," even though it was solely there to create shock and to further develop the main male character...which is the exact definition of "women in refrigerators," but we gotta give Robinson credit, because instead of one, we could have had TWO women in the fridge?
...
You guys really aren't helping yourselves here.
And even putting that aside, they still created a mini that is tied only with Ultimatum as being everything that is wrong with modern comics.
Ay-ye-yea.
The rest of it doesn't sound bad though--they just need to keep Robinson on the down-low on these panels.
