Hugo Weaving is not a bad choice for the role in captain america imo. Really excited to see how he will look as Red Skull in the movie.

Yeah like thats the only thing he has done.

The movie will be extremly interesting to me if he gets the role.

Very few cooler actors out there than him.

I was hoping for Til Schweiger, but Weaving would be amazing. I still think his role in V For Vendetta should have earned him an Oscar. I'd rather see a German actor, but you can do a lot worse than Weaving. He'd be solid.

Sounds good so far. I've long respected Weaving as an actor, so this has the chance to be quite good. Hopefully he can do a decent German accent.

However, I will say that ever since I saw Inglourious Basterds I've been thinking Christoph Waltz would make a great Red Skull.

Oh, well. Wouldn't want the guy to be typecast (like Stephen Lang).

Anyways, didn't have any particular actor or look in mind (as the actor will be in makeup), so I'm happy! I just hope they get the look right.

Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes. Though I think Waltz might actually be even better as Zemo, if he were actually going to show up in the movie. Actually...forget Skull or Heinrich...save Waltz for a sequel and cast him as Helmut Zemo.

But yeah...potential typecasting. Still, I'd love to see it happen.

Weaving is a more-than-decent choice for the Skull as well, if it pans out. He can really pull off that whole "unimaginable rage and hatred simmering underneath the surface" thing the Skull should have going on.

I'm sure he'd have no trouble doing a German accent. Having worked for Johnston on Wolfman he'll get the role if they come together on the money.

Exactly. Now I know many people may hate the Transformers films (personally I enjoyed the first but hated the second), but Weaving was terrific as Megatron. You could feel the characters through his voice, which is exactly what is needed in a voice-only part like that.

So while the Red Skull's face will at least be partially obscured (we won't know how much until they release an image, as I'm not sure how much prosthetics they'd use, or they might even go GC like with Davy Jones), so at least we know we have an actor who can emote entirely through his voice.

After all the horrible casting choices for Captain America, I'm amazed by how good a choice Hugo Weaving would be for the Red Skull. Hated him in V For Vendetta, Lord Of The Rings and I guess his Matrix performance looks a little shaky given the attitude towards the films these days but I think he's a very good choice for the character.

They're good, right? I felt exactly the same way the first time I saw them. If the actual make-up looks anything like that, at least we know Skull will be awesome.

I was linked to them from a member over at ComicBookMovie.com.

The sculpture/mask was done by a guy over at DeviantArt who runs a prop & effects shop. Here's the link: crawford-the-imp.deviantart.com/
