Default Green Arrow & Black Canary vs. Hawkeye & Mockingbird

I thought it was interesting to see that Marvel is gonna take a chance with a Hawkeye and Mockingbird in an on-going series.

Does anyone know how well (or poorly) Green Arrow/Black Canary fared in sales and popularity?

I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of Black Canary being co-opted from Birds of Prey and Justice League, after she was getting her due and props. I did not like the idea of her getting married to Green Arrow.

Still, I thought she was going to get a fair shake in the feature she was co-headlining. But that didn't happen at all. I felt she was relegated to a supporting role.

I'm not very familiar with Hawkeye and Mockingbird, but from what little I've seen and read about, it seems they're depicted to have a more balanced partnership than Black Canary had with Green Arrow.

Fairly poorly. But that's as much the writers as the characters; Winick's recent superhero output isn't well liked, and Kreisberg's run was worse than that. There's a reason that DC is effectively rebooting the franchise with the Rise and Fall event.

The last few issues of Kreisberg run sold around 18000-19000 units, I believe.
The Silver Age is roughly 1954-1971.
The Bronze Age is roughly 1971-1986.

The nineties are not the Bronze Age!

Well, both women were the victims of sex crimes and with female emulators of both archers were also victims of sex crimes. What the hell is up with men who like to write about superhero archers!?!

What is really interesting is that the incident with Dinah and the incident with Bobbi both were written in 87.

What is really interesting is that Black canary was never raped like some fanboys tend to still belive (ignoring some very important clues, like the fact that she was still being stripped of her clothes when Ollie arived, the dialog makes no sense if she had been raped.. ohh and the start of the ongoing when shes visiting a shrink)

Yeah, she just underwent some type of abuse that required her to be naked from the waist down and left her unable to bear children. How anyone have gathered "rape" from that!?! Clearly we're grasping at straws to think that. Not that I said "rape." I'm pretty sure I wrote "sex crime." Which it clearly was, no matter how Mike Grell tries to cover his ass.

Robin Hood and Lone Ranger are types that never seem to go out of style.

Well I'm planning to check out Hawkeye & Mockingbird, while I never once was tempted to pick up an issue of GA & BC. So there's one readers opinion. Also, I think the Clint and Bobbi title has a better chance to be successful since it's more or less tieing in with the whole Avengers lineup shuffling that's happening in the next few months and that could serve to drum up more interest.

As for the characters, Clint is way cooler than Ollie while Bobbi and Dinah are more or less on the same level.

Robin Hoods and Pretty Birds; fun fun fun (when not oddly involved in ongoing rape stories and heroes who murder stories...).
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...

I would seriously argue otherwise on the Dinah/Bobbi thing. Dinah is on a completely different level than Bobbi (who has been out of the comics for years anyways, so they can't really be comparable). And Clint used to be cooler...till Bendis got a hold of him.

Actually I'm mostly indifferent to Winick's recent superhero work (OK, the early Titans stuff was really bad, but I didn't mind his GA/BC as much as others.) But I know a lot of fans and critics who really disliked it.

If you want, I should have said "It appears to me that Winick's recent superhero output isn't well liked by most fans and critics".

I do think that they're more balanced and I find them more dynamically interesting than Oliver and Dinah.

Well for one, Clint's not the tool Oliver is and clearly worships at Bobbi's feet. Bobbi on the other hand has never achieved the level of badass Dinah has though she should be moreso as a secret agent. Seriously, why is there guilt for killing someone who raped you from a secret agent?
