    Default Dave Cockrum Appreciation

I heart Dave's work. Especially his first one. I wasn't as in love with his second, but it was still really super neat-o.

When I was younger and reading Classic X-Men, I preferred Byrne's cleaner, simpler style. Now I really appreciate Dave's art a whole lot more. His characters practically exploded off of the page. Even Jean when she was in the hospital bed. Now that's talent.

And of course, he may well be the best costume designer in the history of anything, ever. He took the thigh high boots, opera gloves and belt sash combo and put it on many a lady, and made it look different every time.

Gotta give him props. His designs are some of the most iconic X-Men designs ever, and several have lasted decades. That's quality work, when something designed in the 70s remains stylish and cool forty years later.

    Cool

His second Futurians mini was mmmmmMMM oh so good BOI! I mostly liked him with Sam Grainger inking it? UXM 97 was probably my first taste of X-Men (it was from my baby sitter's collection, I'm not that old!) and I never forget my first time. It had Jean or Ororo in some sort of open skirt and boots. Plus a catfight. ~____________~
