I didn't buy into Wildstorm until DC picked it up, so I know next to nothing about DV8 but like what I've heard of it.

Brian Wood makes it a must have.

Same here. Picked up the first tpb after I heard the announcement.

Looking forward to it a lot!

Plus, the covers are just so frickin' awesome themselves!

Those covers are something beautiful. Like everyone else mentioned, if its Brian Wood, I'll pick it up. I haven't gotten into Wildstorm's superhero stuff since Joe Casey wrote Wildcates 3.0.

How can he just ignore the continuity? How is ignoring continuity is the fair thing to do for the new readers because there is no trade available??? Well, I find it really UNFAIR for those who did collect all those issues way back and are getting the reset button treatment!!! That is unfair!

The initial 8 issues of DV8 by Warren Ellis (which were excellent) were the only ones that struck a chord with me anyway, so the fact that Wood is using those issues alone as his jumping-off point here is a major positive in my book. The original DV8 lineup is back and with none of that post-Ellis soap opera silliness of "Powerhaus is a clone!" and "Deathblow is Sublime's dad!" to muddy the waters in this series. I'm quite looking forward to this.

I'm hoping that continuity-wise that Brian is ignoring the post-Ellis issues by basically having his mini-series take place between Ellis's final issue and before the next one (Mike Heisler's run?). Then, after he has successfully reintroduced the DV8 characters to the readers that when they re-enter current Wildstorm continuity, the old continuity will still be intact... just perhaps not referred to too much.

Powerhaus was a clone so it's not impossible to accept that another clone was found to replace him. Freestyle (if not used) could just be MIA post-World's End and can return later.

The saddest part is that I enjoyed Threshold's collection of Gen-Actives that he was putting together to wage war on Ivana and his old teammates. I assume now that this will never be resolved.
