The awesome part is, if I am remembering correctly, a lot of that is lifted directly from the pages of the book.

This show is so depressing. I mean it's so good, but that's the problem. I'm too attached to the characters.

The castle at Pyke looked exactly like I pictured it in my head, loved that.

Those huge armies don't all stay in one place, they're made up from companies led by bannermen of their respective lieges. They often march from their own standing place to converge on an enemy instead of gathering in one place to join up first.

Also, maintaining those armies does enormous damage to the regions they travel through and bivuoac at. They pretty much destroy the countryside and its people, as they forage to feed all mouths. Some of the less scrupulous troops take much more than just the harvest and stored supplies. Episode 2 has Tyrion mention the influx of starving people into King's Landing. And it won't be the last we see of it. The horrors of war are pretty much all over book 2. Martin certainly doesn't ignore the logistics of it.

    So, no Shireen or Patchface?

Under the sea, there are less that be. I know, Oh, oh oh!

That's because most of the talk in english comes from the states and we grew up with lots of violence and little sex, im not sure why this constantly gets brought up as if it's a new thing.

Because this backwards culture needs to be reminded how shit it is when it cringes at depictions of sexuality and cheers on murder.
Sure it might come out as a broken record sort of thing but it isn't like anyone seems to get the point. Violence should not be more naturalized than sex.

Well, for the record, quite a few people were upset about the child murdering in the first episode.
I don't mean it to sound like im crapping on you btw, it's just i've seen this so many times that i had to say something. I totaly understand your point, i just disagree that the culture overall is opposed to seeing nudity or sex depicted, when the complaint is generaly "That was uneeded".

Now, having said all that, an arguement can be made that when it's in a brothel, you should know that it's in a brothel. And this show isn't anywhere near as bad about it as Spartacus was, or even Rome was, because most of it has fit in with the book or with the story wherein those shows, particularly spartacus, just had sex scenes inserted and it didn't add anything, it was there to get naked women on screen.
Theon did have sex in the book there if i recall, and it lead to him explaining a bit about his culture, Stannis did have sex with Melisandre and that leads to something, most of it's for a reason. Cersei and jamie having sex was obviously very important to the story.
Now, if every episode has a brothel scene so we can make sure we have naked women in every episode, people pointing that out isn't really an example of something about american culture, because it would be the writers pandering.

What I don't understand about the name change is: if it's so similar to Osha, why they chose a new name that is an anagram for Arya?

Expect your favorite GRRM characters to suffer badly and/or to have a horrible, painful death and you'll never be surprised.

The ravaged countryside plays a key aspect very soon.

What I like about the sex scenes, other than it's fun to watch sex scenes, is that all the actress have to have real breasts. No fake boobs in the kingdoms.

Not that there was any doubt, but it seems GoT's been renewed for its 3rd season.

I don't think it's the sort of series that people would just randomly stop watching. Having so many characters means you won't really have a lot of episodes where nothing happens.
