I don't think I'd use the word "worst," there. The entire book uses various shades of gray for each and every character. In fact, guys who did deplorable things in the first episode

Like Jaime.
end up being very sympathetic. And people you might have had your heart go out to end up perpetrating horrendous acts.

Like Caitlan.
This is an important theme in the narrative. Everything is fluid.

Stay away from the chimps. You can't reason with them and you'll just end up with monkey shit all over your clothes.

And I'd like to amend that previous post to say that not "every" character is necessarily shown as gray. There are several that you could EASILY describe as out-and-out evil from beginning to current book. And from what I hear about Martin's direction, he's going to try to give one of the most evil of the bunch a sympathetic spin in the next book and I really REALLY do not want that. Khal Drogo and the Dothrakyi don't even rate on the evil scale in comparison.

just started the 2nd book, Tyrion and Arya still remain as my favorite characters and hopefully it comes through in the show. Hopefully, Littlefinger comes out as just as enjoyable and funny
These are potential spoilers for people who haven't read the books, and intended for 7thangel:

In fact, along with Jon, those three make up half of the entirety of the "good" people that make it from the very first book to the current. We pick up a couple of other "good" types along the way, and several of the "bad" people turn "good" via personal trial and epiphany.
I could post something further, but that *WOULD* be a spoiler for someone starting the second book, and I'm unsure 7thangel would want to hear it?

Boardwalk Empire?! With its graphic depictions of people getting gunshots to the head and a hooker getting her face slashed? To say nothing of the creepy pervert Fed who is now going to be Zod.
I've only read the first book...but I cannot accept this. Jaime Lannister has sex with his sister and threw a ten-year old boy out a window. *Nothing* can make him sympathetic. Interesting, sure, but that's not the same.Originally Posted by Benal German

I still kinda hate Jamie and i've read all the books.
It's to quite as sever, but finding out Hitler had a crap childhood wouldn't make me like him.
It's first impressions though, as i still love Tyrion, and whatever they have Dany do in the future, i'll still like her.
