You have to understand though. Not everyone red the book a decade ago. People are enjoying and experiencing the TV show which has them also going and trying the books. I myself did not even know the books existed until they were teasing the show and I am over 35. It was not something that was on my radar.

So, to be upset with people because they are having probably the same emotional experience with the TV show as you had with the books a decade ago is "hipster-dickish" at best. To call it "ignorance" is also not cool because then you assume that everyone who doesn't know everything you do is somehow ignorant. There is way too much stuff out there to be well versed in everything. You should not get mad that people were not reading things the same time you were. It should make you happy that something you like is being enjoyed by a larger audience.

I know when I read the books about a month or two ago there were a lot of things I wanted to go the other way. Just becuase you had that experience 10 years ago does not invalidate the people who are having it now.

So have a little patience with the people who are just getting on board now and save the sighing and eye rolling for the book board.

You could see it happen, and you should. But would it be so hard? Just have spoilers:
Robb trying to take some castle, win but get injured, Jeyne treats him, the two begin to fall for each other, then he hears the news of Theon, and later Bran & Rickon, gets depressed, sleeps with the girl and later marries her.
end of spoilers Not hard. Although they might save the spoilers:
    marriage for s03
    end of spoilers

Theoretically, I don't think it would be that hard, but for a show that spends so much time scouting the perfect locations, building the perfect sets, and filming in multiple locations all throughout Europe, you have to wonder how much finding, building, and filming in a new location/set can cost. There's also time considerations per episode, but to be frank, probably the thing AGoT: The Series does best is distilling key moments from the books to short scenes that get the point across quickly.

At the same time, I'm not sure why they make some of the decisions they've made. spoilers:
The Reeds, for example, are central to Bran's developing plot, but they haven't appeared and it seems that Jojen's role is being fulfilled by Osha, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but I think the nature of a "greenseer" is sort of vital to Bran's metamorphasis. But then you have a lot of screen time spent on Littlefinger's whores, some of which is used for characterization purposes (Joffrey's "lesson") and some of which just seems gratuitous.

    spoilers:
As for the Reeds, they will have to show up eventually, even because Rickon can't go to the Wall with them

    spoilers:
Rickon doesn't go to the Wall with them. He goes to Skagos with Osha. That's the task that Manderly assigns to Davos in Dances with Dragons is-- to bring Rickon back from Skagos where cannibalism is said to occur. Bran crosses through the Wall because of the secret door than responds to the reciting of the Black's oath. If I remember correctly, it's beneath the same ruined fort that Stannis is converting for his keep.

Mac Danny, it's of no use. I tried to explain it as well but he's still going on calling others ignorant because the book came out in 1996. Let him think he's cooler cus he read it before all the n00bs.

I think he knows that. That's exactly what he's saying that spoilers:
Rickon can't go to the Wall because he needs to end up in Skagos for Davos to find. Thus, the Reed child(ren) need to appear eventually.
    end of spoilers

    Or they could have spoilers:
Sam and Gilly collect Rickon and take him along their trip to Oldtown, get dropped off at Skagos on the way, etc. But even that doesn't make any sense because they would need to get back to Castle Black and Jon would certainly recognize his brother, right?
    end of spoilers

But I'm not even really worried about it. I'm sure they got some ideas in mind, and its still quite a long ways off. They cut out the Blackfish, we might as be prepared to lose the Reeds as well. As much as I hate it, I'd have to agree with Vibranium. They're somewhat filler, and having another greenseer with Bran kind of lessens Bran's specialness in a way so I can see why they've delayed/omitted them so far.

i put off reading the books because my cousin claimed they were more cynically anti-climactic than actually shocking, she also said nobody was likable and people kept making idiotic decisions (that was her exact words). so i skipped the books, and then i heard HBO was gonna make a tv show. so far i have like the show though. the second season more so the first.

Okay, before this thread this is what I knew about Tish, zip, zero, nada.
I now know that Tish is a heavily armed, black, bi-sexual, truck driving woman who likes going to the clubs.

I don't want to completely agree on this one since I've been banned twice recently for insulting behaviour but seriously, if that's all your cousin took away from the books I think they are perhaps aimed at a demographic perhaps more advanced in certain ways than she is qualitatively.

I found a guy who sort of shared the vague opinions she had, very well educated guy, but he explained his views himself and came off sounding very smart.
He was also a preacher or something so his views on the morality of the characters made more sense.

To be fair I'd expect a man of faith to be a little put out by a story featuring incest, infidelity, child cruelty as well as excessive violence and sadism. The Dark Ages weren't exactly a source of sunshine and lollipops.
