Oh, piss off. Don't be insulting. Reply like an adult. Or at least pretend to try.

We've pretty much come to the obvious conclusion that the TV show isn't the book verbatim. Things have been changed and things have been left out.

I'm saying that this could have (and probably *SHOULD* have) been left out because it's redundant and gratuitous.

no...but when an adaptation can keep things intact, I certainly appreciate it

and while I do agree on the content of said scene being gratuitious, I'm a big fan of making sure the point is hammered home

See now? Did replying like an adult (sans punctuation) hurt?

I thought it made sense. Joffrey is the villain of the piece. Have him do villainous stuff.

Game of Thrones is the most frustrating show to watch ever. It pains me to see the good guys get screwed over and the bad guys seemingly prevail, pretty much all the time. But that is what makes it great. When you actually get angry or sad at fiction, it's a testament to how well it's written. And it will make the inevitable comeuppance all the more glorious.

My problem with the scene stems from the fact that a lot of good material is by necessity going to be left out of this production. We've already seen evidence of it.

Why slap in 5 minutes of redundant material to show gratuitous nudity at the expense of leaving out 5 minutes of other material?

And it has fuck all to do with not being on basic network or cable.

I think it was mentioned that Stannis was no longer sleeping in the same bed with Selyne and had been spending all his time with Melisandre, plus the whole "shadow baby" thing, but I can't recall if it was ever explicitly mentioned. It was usually just rumors that Davos was hearing.

I always got the sense that Renly was bisexual from his depiction in AGoT, but I'm can't remember anything specific that points it out. His romance with Loras Tyrell on the show sort of confused as Loras seemed stoutly asexual to me in the books (beyond the rumors that Cersei was playing with to discredit Margary), but it does make a certain amount of sense.

With Renly, it's not outright said, but very, very implied.

With Stannis, it was less implied; that is, until spoilers:
Melissandre said she has no use for her bed when Stannis is away.
    end of spoilers

It is a bit too nasty. But it's to make Joffrey even more of a prick. The villain has gotta do villainous things. And when he finally gets what is coming to him, it'll be a moment where we can all cheer.

i first thought that scepter was to be used as a dildo and had a weird american psycho flashback. and then later they even do that rat torture. is that it now in the sadistic department or are they going to top that?

was really confused about the stannis/renly situation and had to search the web on davos, melisandre and the seven. what i missed is, what were the doing that cave anyway? or what was davos thinking they were doing?

although renly is more likable, i understand stannis his disappointment with cat stark. i wonder why the starkīs havenīt had a more diplomatic approach ala letīs win this war and settle the claim for the throne later.
but all lady stark does is calling their behaviour childish, which certainly wonīt make them reconsider.
also, does robb has a clear stand in this matter or is he just focused on winning his current battles and he isnīt giving it much thought?

tywin was great. whatīs that brotherhood and why did they think the prisoners would know about them?

little finger scene was awkward. "i loved you since i was a boy, oh and here i bring you your husbandīs head" clumsy. i expected more of him

That's how Baelish rolls when it comes to Cat. It was clumsy and stupid to have Ned Stark's wife stashed away in his freakin' brothel, too but Baelish just can't seem to stop himself from making dumb moves where Cat is involved.
I thought the scene with Joffrey and the whores (band name!) was just as much about The Hound. The Hound has been kind several times to Sansa, including this episode where he's the only one to move and cover her with his own cloak no less. I personally believe they're setting up a face turn for the big guy.

This episode was okay. Not bad, but not great. They really need to make this show 90 minutes instead of 60, because each episode is too dam short.

As for the whole magic thing people are talking about, the Red Priest are the only ones who have been show to have a strong tie to magic. They believe it's a gift from their god R'hllor, aka the Red God, but no one really knows for sure what kind of magic they wield. They also have another God, R'hllor's enemy The Great Other/White Walker, who's name shall not be said. And when they say his name shall not be said, think Harry Potter and name not be said thing with Voldemort, multiple that rule by a 1000 and you will understand how serious the Red Priest are, when they say The Great Other's name shall not be spoken.

The scene with Melisandre giving birth to a shadow baby, seems to be combine, as she did it twice in the book. In the book, Stannis leaves Dragonstone to lay siege to Storm's End, because Melisandre tells him to if he wants to get the Storm Lords to join him. I'm am also, guessing that Renly is at Storm's End right now, otherwise I have no idea why they had Melisandre go into a tunnel. This was a very confusing part for me, because in one scene Renly is at his camp and Stannis is at Dragonstone, then bam, both are somewhere having a meeting. If they are at Storm's End, the reason Melisandre goes underground is because Storm's End was either built or design by Brandon the Builder, who also built the Wall and Winterfell's inter wall.

All three walls are protected by a layer of magic(with thee Wall having the strongest layer) and it seems magic spells can not pass through these walls because of it. Which is why Melisandre has Devos take her underground because she needs to get pass the wall in order for her shadow to get through, and the tunnel they go in, goes pass the wall.

Also, magic is coming back to this world, because dragons have been reborn. Dragons and magic are tie very close together in this world, and it seems the more Dragons there are, the more powerful magic is, and vice versa when dragons aren't around.

Actually, in the book, Tyrion does give Joffrey whores to mess around with. Wether he does or not, we don't know since he didn't have a point of view. This scene to me, was to show how cruel Joffrey's character is(remember his kittens), which is much more crueler in the book.
