Oh, he had probably read it, he started a rant on me when i said something about how the books were working to fight against a lot of the cliches that found their way into the fantasy genre and that made them different, and he basicly put on a clinic telling me that i was nowhere near as well read as him.
He still watches the show though.

hhmm... must have missed something lol.. but anyways my cousin had no problem with all the dark things in the setting (that's probably what drew her to the books in the first place). she just couldn't get into most of the main cast, plus her pet peeve is that every body is/was carrying the "idiot ball". she likes the concept and story just not the characters except Tyrion. after seeing the show i can kinda see her point but i'm intrigued enough to stick with the show. so far i have found it satisfying..hope it stays that way.
Okay, before this thread this is what I knew about Tish, zip, zero, nada.
I now know that Tish is a heavily armed, black, bi-sexual, truck driving woman who likes going to the clubs.

    Yes, you do.spoilers:
Osha took off with Rickon to Skagos. Unless HBO plans of changing this whole story plot, or finding someone else to do this part(I can't think of someone else they could use), they need the Reeds. Especially if they have a bigger part in the next two books. I also don't know how they are going to have the Red Wedding when it seems they have cut out Edmure Tully part. No Edmure, no wedding. Unless they decided not to have a wedding, and just have Rob show up at the Twins and be killed by the Freys.
    end of spoilers

And Ned and Jorah, specially the latter.

Also, does anyone know if Whitebeard will show up this season?

    Shoulda-woulda-coulda.

It´s a tv show, not a Hollywood movie.
They do not have the money to pull the SFX stunts you see in Lord of the Rings.
You get your fantasy elements, but they have to be well managed and used when they are really crucial, otherwise they´d go overbudget filming Snow´s direwolf..

I for one am happy it´s a tv show instead of a Hollywood movie.
    I don´tthink they´d be able to compress season 1 into a 2 hours movie.

Where in my post, did I say I wanted a Hollywood movie for GoT?

I simple said I wanted more direwolves and dragons. I also said they should have used wolf dogs or some kind of dogs that are big that can pass for wolves. That alone, would have give them more money for the dragons and the direwovles wouldn't be reduce to almost zero screen time. Also, Rome, Band of Brothers, The Pacific had bigger budgets then all three of TLOR movies.

I´m really not getting your point.

Yes, the fantasy elements are few and far inbetween and only appear when they are crucal to the story, like the shadow demon baby birth.
You think... what, that TPTB are purposely leaving those elements out to... what exactly?
    Annoy the viewers?

They don´t put them because they can´t.
Either they don´t have the money or the time or both.

So you wish there were more.
Well i wish I could build a Lynda Carter cloning factory.

They didn´t use wolf dogs, they used northern inuit dogs and they still could´t channel the dough to put more dragons in it, so what that tells you?

They have no money and the few they have has to be used wisely.

You put up extra money for production costs, I'm sure they'd welcome your money and input. Unless you happen to broker a deal with Benioff and HBO, you're kind of S.O.L.

Jesus, am I really not being that clear. I'll try again in another way.

Instead of using CGI for the direwovles this season, they should have used some big ass wolf dogs or any kind of dogs, I don't care, that looks like a wolf, and use the money they used for the direwovles, for the dragons instead. More money for dragons, means for screen time for dragons.

edit: And if they used real dogs/wolves for this season, instead of CGI direwolves, the direwolves wouldn't be reduce to almost zero screen time.
