Marvel Comics has announced that Spider-Man will be a member of the Brian Michael Bendis scripted, Stuart Immonen illustrated "New Avengers" relaunch that is scheduled to hit stores everywhere in June, 2010.

Yeah, I'm thinking that maybe ALL the Avengers start off in AVENGERS #1 and then branch out to their own respective books.

Maybe Avengers 1 will be one of those membership drive issues.

I was always a sucker for an Avengers membership drive issue. It's like a the NFL or NBA draft or something.

It is sort of interesting that both of the announced members of the New Avengers are or MIGHT be on another team.

Spidey is shown in Avnegers (though as many have said, that probably is a one time deal). And Cage is announced as the leader of the Thunderbolts. All we need is Wolverine, and we can have a book made up entirely of people who belong to multiple teams.

yup throw in Gorilla Man from A of A, maybe a young avenger or someone who instructs in Avengers Academy. Talk about your cross overs.

I miss the mentor role Tony played with Peter helping him devlop his skills. I would hope that can be revisted.

I really would not mind him leading especialy if they are facing "street level' threats. He knows guys like the Rhino and Vulture (bankrobber types) better than anyone and knows he mobsters pretty well too.

I certainly wouldn't mind him leading a team. Not sure it's gonna happen at least right off the bat... but I still wouldn't mind seeing it.

We still have Steve Rogers unaccounted for... so it's possible he might end up leading this team OR the Secret Avengers.

It wouldn't be a draft so much as it would be creating teams for specific scenarios. I wonder if the regular and new teams would know about the secret team.

I think that in most states its illegal for JRjr to not draw Spider-Man. At least in New York it is.

Any clarification you can give is much appreciated. I think its cool that Marvel has fans excited and talking about Avengers, but all the speculation is driving me crazy!
