Songbird isn't going to get an ongoing. Dream on, people. The best she could hope for is a mini, and even that's a stretch at this point.

That is so what a person with a Moonstone avatar would say!

maybe Mel should try out for a spot on the Secret Avengers roster. that seems to be the proving ground for unknown quantities.

It all depends. If enough interest is gathered, she'll most likely be used more outside the Thunderbolts books.

Personally i feel with the growing interest by fans of her a mini isnt that far off, maybe even in a year or two. I could see a story centered around her in a similar way that they did with Penance. Maybe a personal quest for her trying to uncover the truth behind her mother's death. (I dont believe it was ever said whether it was Moonstone or Osborne-though most believe it to be Moonstone)

Penance was the catalyst for Civil War in a very real way, hence his mini. The death of Songbird's mother just isn't enough to justify a mini-series. A one-shot, at most, but not an entire mini. Parker would be much better served exploring that plotline in the Thunderbolts book proper, IMO.

You got to admit, there are some gaps here and there in Cagebolts pertaining to Songibrd, like how Songbird hasn't even debriefed Gunna, and she's rescuing her the next moment, or why she was late to get to Shadowland.

What's your point? Things happen off-panel sometimes. Should we have a one-shot for the next time Songbird takes a dump as well?

That's cute (and entirely untrue), but Songbird ain't Deadpool, and she'll never command that level of popularity or ability to sell a book. Ever.

That's because of internet LOL random humor.
But yeah, Songbird will never become that popular, but what Marvel Female does? Outside X-Men, every marvel female gets shuffled from center strange to far away.
And really, you never know. I mean, we're getting a short story about Songbird. That's most likely means they're testing stuff and most of the girls, outside Invisible and Black Cat, are pretty small time. I think if these books sell well, we might see Songbird elsewhere in the Marvel U and not just in the Thunderbolts.

That doesn't "most likely mean they're testing stuff". What are you basing that on? It's much more reasonable to assume that they simply wanted to tell a Women of Marvel story using a non-mainstream character that a writer NOT writing Thunderbolts wanted to use Songbird for. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

All I'm saying, if enough people buy it, then who knows what influence it might have. What do we have to lose if we do purchase it? Outside the Land cover, it's Jim McCann writing it, and it seems like it'll be entertaining enough.
    Really, you never know.

It could spontaneously start raining money, too. Because really, you never know. But I won't hold my breath for that, either. ;)

Very true, regarding Penance. I say mini though cause i dont think it could be wrapped up in one issue. And on a personal note, i wouldnt want Parker writing it. I havent been a fan of his run on Thunderbolts.
