Just look at that glowing review.

Now it's time for the big guns of the justice league detroit to shine.
I think you mean unreleased, not unleashed. And I liked that movie for the cheesy fun it was. Of course, they got it wrong by not including Blue and Gold.

Anyway, since they were the Justice League I grew up with, they are clearly the true and superior Justice League (they worked in the early '90s and they'll work now, darn it!).

    A good story?

If they have a huge budget for this, then absolutely get Supes, Batman, WW, Flash, GL, MM, etc.

If the budget isn't as good, then just give us the Year One folks: GL, Flash, Black Canary, Aquaman, and MM (If you can do the special effects good)

I think you have to pick between a Batman league or a Superman league.

    A Superman league

Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, Black Canary, Green Arrow

    A Batman league

Batman, Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Fire, Ice, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner)

Or Wonder woman's JLA - justice league of amazons with all the hot sexy women.

Batsy does tend to go for the lesser-known heroes, doesn't he? First with the Outsiders, then with the late '80s League.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure if a JLI style League will work right off the bat. The appeal of that League isn't that they're "the funny League" as so many think, but the fact that they're the ones who cowboyed up when all of the big shots said they wouldn't join. They were silly sometimes, but they managed to do some big stuff like avoiding WWIII, beating back Despero and taking down Starbreaker on Almerac. They're the underdogs who made good.

I think my problem with a "Big 7" JLA is that I've just never liked any of their stories. Grant Morrison's stories are so filled with big ideas that they tend to go over my head and Gardner Fox's stories are more formulaic than your average episode of Scooby Doo. Mark Waid's were okay, but they lasted such a short time in the history of the League. Maybe if I had some other sorts of stories to judge by, it would be better.

    Big 7, simple as that.

Yeah I know it could still work with the Trinity + Flash and Green Lantern, but the thing is, how are Martian Manhunter and Aquaman ever gonna get proper respect as characters if they keep getting the shaft. Let this be their time to shine.

Plus I just find those two the most interesting characters of the Big 7.

Aquaman is never going to get over with an audience. He's a lost cause.

Unless its an entirely separate universe, with different actor, I wouldn't even include Batman. BB and TDK are great, and I love that portrayal of Bats, but he would add nothing useful to almost any JLA lineup. Tonally, his world doesn't mesh at all with one where Superman even exists.

For Martian Manhunter, I'd downplay the powers he shares with Superman, and really focus on the shapeshifting and telepathy. I'd also keep his default appearance.

yes they need Batman, Superman, and WW (once they find someone to play her) but there is a lot of work behind a film like this. there will be a lot of market research. a writer, will supposedly write a great script, but quit over creative differences before he is done. a second writer will come in and write some mish mash. somebody will have a diva attitude on set, causing a handful of scenes to look awful.
so, after that rant, I think 5 is a good size number for the screen. for my last two? Plastic Man and Black Canary.

    I vote this!

Or actually, I would be more than OK with a JLA team like the one in JLA: Year One. Superman and Batman can guest star but have the main focus on Flash, GL, Black Canary, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and maybe throw in Wonder Woman and Green Arrow as well.

that would be my favorite character line-up for a JLA movie too. Without Martion Manhunter and Aquaman it would be only 5 and that wouldn't be enough for a "league" imo.

Also the Wonder Woman Justice League of Amazons sounds great Would like to see the cast for that movie.

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern.

.....and of course, Martian Manhunter (as was said roughly 15 years ago by a reviewer, reviewing a JL comic where MM was not featured: "it's just not a Justice League without J'onn")

I think the team would need another female besides Wonder Woman. Probably Black Canary or Zatanna.

I think a live action film is unlikely, and a good live action film even less likely. A computer animated movie would be cool though, in a slightly-more-realistic Bruce Timm style.

The main 5 can have their own movies first, and then J'onn brings them all together in the JL movie.

I don't know about necessary, but I'd like to see Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Flash (Barry or Wally), Green Lantern (Hal, John, Kyle or Kilowog), Green Arrow, Black Canary, The Atom, Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Snapper Carr and Plastic Man, probably spread over a trilogy.

Who's necessary for a Justice League movie?

A decent, League specific villain that's big enough of a threat to bring all of them together.

The cheap answer would be to have something along the lines of Lex Luthor teaming up with the Joker. This would involve Supreman and Batman and the rest could be drawn in through various reasons.....but that would be as dull as dirt imho.

The League doesn't have a lot of heavies but they have enough of them to not rely on member specific threats (Luther, Joker, Cheetah, etc.)

Despero would be the easiest I imagine, a fin-head warrior from space that arrives with an armada only to be beaten down by the League.

Dr. Destiny could be retooled a bit, perhaps given the ability to draw out creatures from the dreams of others to do his bidding, creatures that he sets against the League.

The Royal Flush Gang could receive an upgrade of sorts, the one we saw recently in the pages of Justice League of America.

As good as the team is going to be, whether it's the Big 7 or the Bigger 5 or just the Trinity, you need a solid villain to warrant them even being together in the first place.
