Talking My personal thankyou to all the wonder fans, and a request.

It's one year ago today that many of the folks here and on the DCMB for WW shared their prayers with myself and Kathleen for our little girl Gwen when she was sick in hospital.

Since then I've come to see out group as more of a community than a fanbase. The support online that has been given to Nicola and Gail and their her families over the past year, and to many others, affirms that.

I would like to personally thank everyone for all their support during that time. All of you who passed on kind thoughts and devoted prayers to Gwen were amazing. Sadly that thread has not endured and I seem to have lost the copy I took of it, but I will remember the feelings of love from those who posted for as long as I live.

With that in mind, I would like to invite you to share something about the members of our community that you value and cherish. There are many of us, and I know by myself I cant address everyone, but I will make a start.

To Gail for your compassion and integrity
Hobomystical for your support and caring
Aegis for you patience and virtue
    Nightforce for your humility
Mart and Carol for your perceptiveness and intelligence
Jamesfreeman for your companionship in Tom-love
    MinaRho for your creativity
    Dianafan for your passion
    Deltaheadband for your good heart
Nerites for the way you see beautiful things and bring them to life
Gaelforce for your sense of fun
Bound4Olympus for your curiousity and honest desire to learn more
    Tangetman...for caring
    Jaysinleigh for your wit
Maplecroft and TripleX for your devotion to your ideas
Femminemystique (we miss you darling) for your bold honesty
Hermaki for your dedication to making things better
4pointOh for looking for things to like
AndyMangels for your patience [they are in the mail, I swear] ;)
    Lariatofhestia for your kindness
    Hellacre for your friendliness
Gothamazon for being a good mate AND in the same timezone
    Xeres for your sincerity
Flaneur for your tenacity and your eloquence
    Coveredinbees for your thoughfulness

and Americanwonder for being such a good sport about losing all those arguments. Nah, I'm kidding. You are great and you never let me get away with anything, and yet are never nasty about it.

You and everyone else here have all come to mean a great deal to me. And I know that there are many more people here who deserve recognition and praise and I am sorry I cannot give it to you right this moment. But down under it is getting late and a little boy upstairs is having trouble sleeping and needs his dad to read a story to him, so please take up where I have left off and tell how much you appreciate each other. And I'll see you in the morning.

    B.

That's great, Brett. Good to hear things are well.

I enjoy your analysis of plot points, the good humor and openness you always display, you acting prowess , your clear love for your family which all can relate to and Wonder Woman of course.

I'll admit though all posters are great, there are a several who stand out for whatever reason who one genuinely likes to engage. You are one of them. And it's interesting to see the various povs from everyone.

Brett, i didn't know you back when your daughter was ill, but I've come to value you highly in the time since. I'm so glad you're family's doing so well now.

As for my Luv-fest? Here's some shout-outs to just some of the more obvious ones:

Aegis; The Big Guy. Nuff Said.
AndyMangels & Carol; our Wonder-Guru's I'm in awe of you both. Between you, you've forgotten more about Diana than I'll ever know, yet you're still able to be patient with us mere mortals!
Atomcrush; All heart and passion, and all the better for it!
Brett; for your smarts, wit and eye for detail.
Ceridwen; too lovely for words, and so talented!
ChrisDonaghy; smart, warm and funny. You are Captain Awesome!
Femmy!; what can I say? Luvs ya hon, and I miss you so much!
FSO Oz; for your lovely, bonkers sense of humour.
JamesFreeman; I'd guess that we have very little in common as people, but I just plain likes ya, dude!
Mars; she's Mars. What more needs to be said?
Mina, Josh, Meek & all our artists; you just stun me, people!
Nightforce; a sweeter, kinder man I have yet to meet!
trypr; you're intelligent, insightful, witty and humane. And you have great taste in ice cream!
Wondergrrrl; don't really know you yet, but you're looking cooler and cooler with each post. And you're a Doctor Who fan, which always scores extra points with me!

    Luvs y'all,
    Justin

Wow, how time flies huh? I am so happy that everything turned out great.

Brett you are such an open minded fan, and to be a Wonder Woman fan you have to have an open mind. You are the coolest Brett. May God watch over you, your wife and children.

Unlike you, my brain doesn't quite work right with names and such and I fear I may forget someone.

So with that, Everyone here has been so delightful and insightful when it concerns our favorite Amazon Princess. So thanks you guys

And to Gail Simone for her continuing work on Wonder Woman and to all the Artists bringing her to life in living color.

    Big HUGS to everyone.
I am most definitely a WONDER WOMAN FAN!!

That's my reward for not being that much active on Forums for such things: no soup for me!

Wonder Woman needs all the fans she can get so it's great to see a future one (am I right?) who hasn't been lost to go to Paradise (yet) one year ago, brettc1.

But...do you REALLY want to know what I think of you here?

Yeahbuwhat now? Oh, who am I kidding, I got used to "losing" arguments all the time a long time ago - my first girlfriend taught me that.

To Brett, my Earth-1 counterpart - for raising so many interesting questions (even though you often get the answers wrong).

To D_F - for THUNDERDOME and fighting the good fight!

To Trypr - for her warm and calm wisdom.

To all the Fan Art Thread participants - for sharing your talent and passion and igniting my imagination.

and to WondermanRK, SonofDiana, and all those who unapologetically love "Diana Prince" - for loving what you love and never letting me convince you otherwise (though I doubt I'll stop trying).

More to come, got to run.

Awww, I got mentioned. (And I'm seriously contemplating changing my handle to "DeltaHeadBand" cause I love how funny it sounds. (I am guessing spellcheck got us there and changed it?)

But, this is why I love coming here. We have plenty of real, substantive, arguementative discussions where every puts out there (strong) opinions "No moron, Diana should have 3 toasters on her counter and the coffee maker should be in a cabinet because..." but then when it's over, for the most part, we all come back to status quo and threads like this.

I am glad everything turned out well so far. If I ever get to Australia (which is in the life plan but being blocked by a partner who won't fly at all), I would love to do a dinner to meet up with your and your wife.

What story did you read to your son last night?

By the time I got upstairs Xander had fallen back asleep - I just kissed him goodnight. Right now he is watching Wolverine and the X-Men and then soon he is coming downstairs and we will Wii bowl

And it was the lateness that contributed most to my dyslexia - sorry

I did not mean to leave anyone off the list or to show favouritism, but there are many of us and I trusted that everyone else would make sure that all were remembered. Such as Frank, WondermanRK, Atomcrush, and so many others who all go to making this board a very special place indeed.

And then of course there are our special guests, such as Nicola Scott and Phil Jimenez and Mark Waid who contribute there own special insight to the boards and share their wonder love with us

    Default My turn. :)

I'm not going to mention individual names, primarily because I don't want to dominate the thread with my extensive list of people and their contributions. I will, though, mention the aspects of these people that make me happy:

    1. Incredible insight and open-mindedness when it comes not only to the character of Wonder Woman, but also to other posters. I admire people so when they speak their mind in a way that promotes further speaking of minds.

    2. Vast, vast knowledge about Wonder Woman another other comic book characters. I know that I have a great deal of useless, trivial knowledge in my head (some good stuff, too), but I am always amazed by people who can pull information out of thin air, information that is decades old.

    3. Willingness to concede an argument. This quality shows such tremendous maturity to me. Not everyone can admit when he or she is wrong about something, but those who do so with poise impress me.

    4. Keeping people on their toes. These people who constantly introduce new ideas or perpetuate existing ones in a way that makes that light bulb go off make me smile -- that smirk-like smile of, "Wow, now that's just cool."

    5. Compassion. The numerous messages from posters offering support, a kind word or two, a "I'm with you, Aeg", or just a smile make this job so worthwhile for me. Also, those who show compassion to others when they obviously need a kind word or a proverbial "shoulder" deserve accolades.

    6. Speaking the truth. People who just speak honestly, in a way that's respectful yet candid, have a warm place in my heart.

    7. Humor. Laughter helps level the mood of a thread, breaking the tension, and those who use humor to deflate a tightly blown balloon of drama have my undying respect.

    8. Willingness to share. Whether it be their latest piece of artwork, an idea, a picture of themselves, a preview of a comic -- whatever -- give me that "warm-n-fuzzy" feeling because they do it out of a genuine desire to want others to be a part of their world.

The words "thank you" don't adequately convey the message I wish to send to those people mentioned above. You have my everlasting gratitude and friendship.

    Your humble mod,
    Aegisbearer
