Interesting.
EDIT: Nevermind
As a gay man I am really happy to hear how PAD is thinking about Rictor and Shatterstar's relationship. It isn't super campy and he is treating it like a normal relationship (as normal as a comic relationship can be) instead of just giving "token gay" status. I really appreciate his take on this.
I'm not reading X-Factor. But I have glanced at the issues in question and have to tip my hat to David. He did such a great job in handling the story. No soap boxing. He writes both Rictor and Shatterstar as two characters both with faults and virtues. Just like two human beings. And I am glad that he cemented the fact that Rictor has just decided to be be gay. Though I can't say that I am too crazy about the relationship. I don't like Rictor. I find him too sulky. He's like a big child.
I had been originally supportive of Leifeld but after reading X-Force. I came to the conclusion that Leifield must just be out of it. Shatterstar showed no interest in women watsoever. None. He was oblivious to Feral's come ons and he blew off Theresa. And he blew her off in a way that was more than just 'You're not my type babe'. If Leifield wanted Shatterstar to be interested in women he should have made Nicienza give him a girlfirend or have him picking up chicks at clubs or flirting with the women on the team. So for Leifeild to start complaining now just sounds silly.
Can someone explain the comparison to Jack Harkness?
To be an X-Man means possessing a strength of will--of self identity-- that nothing can subvert." ... "For better or worse, being an X-Man means not merely being born a mutant... but a hero.-Storm
Tisk! "Kid in a candy-store." Stereotyping all gay men as promiscuous sluts. When is Shatterstar going to commit?

...it's still Shatterstar...Shatterstar, I mean really? Shatterstar...
Shatterstar's "kid in a candy store" phase is probably the most realistic take on comic out to appear in comics. Let the boy have some fun; I know I did
Guido's reaction is priceless! How Rictor's sexuality affects their friendship
is such a great part of this storyline.
Can I take a moment to praise Marco Santucci? He did an amazing job pencilling this page, and I hope he does more X-Factor soon.
I'm so glad "the kiss issue" brought me back to PAD! (I read his Hulk when I
was a kid.) I've not only stayed for the ride; I've bought up all the X-Factor trades. What a great book!
