Default Bruce and Wonder Woman Romance: Bat-Fans Views?

The subject of a romance between Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman appears to be a hot topic nowadays. With recent developments in the “Blackest Night: Wonder Woman” mini-series showing that Diana still has feelings for Bruce sparking much of the debate. As we all know Bruce will be returning to the modern-day DCU in the coming months. Obviously this topic has been discussed over in the Wonder Woman forum and there is a vocal group opposed to it.

I haven’t seen this matter broached on the good old Bat-Boards. I’m assuming mainly because the catalyst for this discussion happened outside the Bat-Books. However, I’m curious about Bat-Fans opinions on the topic. So, what say you Bat-Fans? Are you interested in seeing a romantic relationship explored between Bruce (after he returns and things settle down) and Wonder Woman?

I for one would definitely like to see it. I have no delusions of the relationship being a permanent thing though. Nor would I want it to be. I don’t think Bruce will ever be able to settle down. If he did however, I would like to see him with Selina.

That being said, I think an extended, exclusive romantic relationship between Bruce and Diana would be fascinating to see. They come from such different worlds and backdrops, add that in with their contrasting personalities and I think it would be interesting to watch out them play out as a couple.

I think it would be interesting and fun to see, though of course it wouldn't last.

Nor should it. But I think having it as an ongoing storyline for a year or two would be pretty fun. And it's not like Diana would have to appear in every issue of a Bat-Book and Bruce wouldn't need to be in "WW" all the time. Just every once and awhile they could show up in each others books

I think it's interesting. Considering most of his other lovers have no powers whatsoever, and are usually damsels in distress I would love to see exactly what Batman would do if Wonder Woman had to carry him out of a battle or something. I don't see Bruce as sexist, but certainly he has a certain amount of machismo.

But I really enjoyed their relationship in the past, so I'm all for it.

I don't know my answer yet.

What about Catwowman, zatanna and all his other women?

This is exactly why I think they'd be an interesting item for a couple of issues, despite the fact that I'm a proud Bruce/Talia shipper. There's an interesting power dynamic that would have to explored between the two of them, and Diana is certainly not the kind of woman to stand for Bruce's occasional "alpha male" moments, whereas his other lovers seem to swoon over those. Maybe not so much Selina, but Talia above all of them definitely has a weakness for authoritative, hypermasculine men; she sleeps with Bane, for God's sake. *rolls eyes* Diana, on the other hand, doesn't feel the need to play into the usual gender/power equation. It might be an enlightening experience for both of them, as she would have to confront attitudes that she disdains in a man whom she admires and is even attracted to, while Bruce would have to acknowledge Diana's complete separation from the dichotomous gender relationships he's used to.

I think they look good together. Supes and WW is too much of the same color scheme. I think the only other guy I liked was Trevor Barnes, but I might have forgotten someone. Anyway, I think they're aesthetically pleasing together.

I personally would like to see it. Diana is one of the only superheroines I have any interest in, and Batman is definitely my favorite hero. I have to say that there aren't many men "man enough" to woo Diana, regardless of what powers they have. In fact, I know of no other character in comics with greater confidence and bravery than Batman, both of which are qualities that would attract Diana and keep her interested. One of the primary reasons that Bruce is the loner he is is that he's afraid of having the people around him hurt or killed by someone trying to get to him, and he would have little reason to worry about that with Diana. I could see how that could draw him to her, how it could allow him to entertain the idea.

Loved it in Kelly's limited JLA run.

Loved it in Justice League Unlimited.

Don't think anything will ever be made of it though. Unfortunately I think it's too big of a change to actually have them in a relationship. You can put Storm/BP together but two of DC's icons in a relationship? Never happening. Not even for a short period of time.

I hate Diana just mooning over Bruce as she is now.
SHE'S and AMAZON! She can have anyman she wants and I don't see her mooning over loosing her chance with Bruce.
    Come on! That is rediculus.
Plus it would be a complete turn off for Bruce.
Now even if you put the mooning aside.
Bruce is a control nut, would Diana let him be the captain of the ship?
They wouldn't last long at all.

I'd rather see her with Aquaman.

Batman books are interesting and creatively fertile enough without having to involve an Amazon princess in a red blue and yellow leotard

Reposted from the WW forum topic:

As a Batman fan, first and foremost, I gotta say that I like that Bruce and Diana have flirted with the idea in the past, but that both have come to realize that it would just not work between them.

There are plenty of qualities that they share that could make them interested in one-another, but enough difference to cause them to always drift apart.

Hell, if Bruce could pick and choose the best qualities from Diana, Selina, and Talia, he could very well have a woman that is perfect for him. Since that is impossible, those three women will always be the ones that he will continue to gravitate towards, even though it will just never work.

Morrison has talked, at least back in the JLA days, about Diana being a better match for Bruce and Orin than she was for Clark, due to their experiences and their outlooks, but seemed to favor Diana and Orin back then. I would agree with you guys, there is something that makes a lot of sense in pairing the two of them, with their mythology and royalty in common.

    Not really, no.

Nothing against either character, I'm obviously a big Bruce fan and I like Diana as well. I just don't really see what the point of this would be, other than the gender role reversal Kate Fatale and Sn4tch mentioned. But that's good for what, an arc or two ? If that's a story that needs telling I think it would be cooler and more interesting for Bruce to have his tail pulled out of the fire by a a female character from the Batbooks, so that he can't chalk it up to her having superpowers. Someone like Batwoman, perhaps? Or even one of the BoP since they're coming back at around the same time.

I think I'd rather see Diana with pretty much any male member of the JLA other than Bruce actually. Hal, or Aquaman, or a Flash maybe. Though all of them have pretty solid love interests already.

I've decided that her best match is Steve Rogers. They'd compliment each other fairly perfectly I think.

I just don't see them having any chemistry. Bruce/Selina are the perfect couple.
