I was interested in checking out Kevin Smith's Green Hornet. I like Smith, and also the new take looked kinda cool. Then they also announced Green Hornet Year One, and this Kato series.
So three titles announced before their run with the property even began. Too much, I'm not going to even bother with the main Smith series now...they lost me before things even began.
For sure I'll be picking up the Year One title.

That makes no sense. Because DE is trying to hit while there's still buzz about the character you're not going to buy any of them? You can't blame them for trying to take advantage of the publicity GH is generating right now. It's certainly not as bad as all the Blackest Night and Seige spin-offs we've seen (and I'm still getting those series too, even if I'm not picking up everything else).
I dunno -- I think the Kato book's a bit much too, but I'm still going to pick up the main title and Year One books.
I'll be hopping on them all. Hopefully all three of them will come out strong.
Uh-huh...Well, the female version of Kato is a NOW comics invention. She isn't new. Smith just decided to use her for his unproduced screenplay of GH, which this series is based on. They didn't throw breasts on Kato for the sake of throwing breasts on Kato, she's a part of Green Hornet's publishing history, and both Kato personas are represented in the books.
I'm gonna reserve the right to read Kato and judge it on it's own merits. I think it's a little early for us to lump her in with a bunch of unrelated female characters, or stick her with a "classless" label. You might wanna read the first couple of issues before jumping to conclusions.....or not, your perogative.
As far as the books being late, if they are it won't be Kevin Smith's fault this time. Kevin Smith's Green Hornet, which you pointed out as being the only one penned by him, is an eight issue series. All of the scripts for those eight comics were already completed, before anything was announced, so , the writings all done.
Right after KSGH wraps up, the regular Dynamite Green Hornet ongoing will be starting. That one is written by The Lone Ranger's Brett Matthews.

I really wish they'd found another artist besides Jonathon Lau for the KS Green Hornet series. I just haven't liked anything he's done for D.E. at all.
Will still probably check out the first issues of all three books though.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.
I'm actually a huge Kevin Smith fan, but I haven't touched any of his comics since the Spider-man / Black Cat debacle.
I stand corrected on the young female Kato stuff. I know nothing of this property's history. I assumed (zing!) that it was a new character.
I'll take back classless, and save it for characters like X-23. Still derivative though! :)
