Default Would you accept Norman Osborn as a clone?

It occurred to me a few minutes ago that I might not mind if the Norman Osborn who has been a part of the book since "Revelations" was a clone, or something similar. It seems to me that this discovery would not change the current character's motivations one bit, and thus wouldn't really limit the writers that much (hell, it might allow for some new stories dealing with the psychological insights.)

And this might appease the fans (although there are less of them after a decade of good Norman Osborn Green Goblin stories) upset that he came back in the first place.

    What are your thoughts?
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

I could live with that. He never should have come back. I'd happily see him outed as a clone.

Probably not...I thought bringing Norman back was a real mistake, especially given the way he's been used for the bulk of the last fifteen years, but he's been in so many stories, and done so many things in that time, I guess I kind of see it as a "what's done is done" type thing. I wouldn't mind if they killed him off again, though.

Maybe a Goblin Glider through the face would do it this time.

No, the character has had some great moments and that would diminish them.

I don't think any story he's been in since he was brought back has been as good as the one he died in.

I'd prefer Skrull to clone. But definitely something along those lines.

But this character doesn't even resemble the old character. He's become somebody else. Also, the old character died.

So let this be a great character without the cheap gimmick of naming him "Green Goblin"

I actually had a similar idea not that long ago. Basically, I had an idea for a story where it is revealed that the Norman that we've known since the Clone Saga was in fact a clone created by Norman around the same time as Ben Reilly. But this clone was unstable, which would explain why this Norman had been rather inconsistent over the years with his behavior, acting insane and like he had a split personality, obsessing over destroying Spider-Man where before he never had such desires or behaviors. HOWEVER, the big twist would be that the REAL Norman Osborn is still alive and kicking. He was just recovering from his battle with Spider-Man after Gwen Stacy's death (actually using the original concept for the character's return years back, that he would be bed ridden for years recovering from the wound he received.) The real Norman would come back, kill off the fake Norman, and take his place again. This Norman would be more sane, not completely obsessed with killing Spider-Man, and have a far stronger bond with Harry and would want to be a good father to his son. However, he would still want to expand his criminal empire, and would still don the mantle of the Green Goblin. Only he would be completely in control of his actions and mental faculties as he does so.

Norman Cloneborn is a great idea. It would revalue ASM#122.

I wouldn't mind a clone degeneration of Harry either. Never liked him and despised that he came back.

Whoever writes a story in which Norman and Harry both just melt would become my new favorite writer.

See, I don't mind Harry. I think it was a mistake to kill off so much of Peter's supporting cast.

    I voted definitely no.
It was just since Norman Osborn returned to the stories during the Clone Saga of the 90`s that the character developed in many great stories writen by Howard Mackie(Amazing Spider-Man v2),Paul Jenkins(Peter Parker:Spider-Man v2),Warren Ellis(Thunderbolts) and Brian Michael Bendis(New Avengers).
    Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,All New X-Men,Hawkeye,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing,Morbius,Thunderbolts,Iron Man,Fatale.

Not if their arc has come to an end. Then it's time for the next writer to come up with new characters and tell new stories. Harry's story has been told.
