I wish her luck, but marvel is a boys club and their treatment of women characters isn't something that gives me hope for any title line.

I'm all for this. Becky Cloonan and Ming Doyle are great, and after the Strange Tales and Nation X minis I'm ready for more offbeat indie takes on Marvel characters.

Sounds fine to me. Better than another execrable "Heroic Age" comic-for-dummies.

    Thumbs down

Could she have repeated the word "diverse" anymore times? I didn't like the part about the title:
Why can't we have fun with something that we all love to do? Just today we were joking that we should have called it "People With Careers Who Are Also Women Tell Stories." That way, we could have made it the least fun possible, but hopefully not have offended anyone.
Yeh, because that was it. Two options. "Girl Comics", or "People With Careers yadda yadda" those were the ONLY two options available. They couldn't have maybe spent a few extra minutes and thought of a better title? Ugh! I really don't think I can support this badly thought out concept, even if there is a Venus story.

There are so, so many wonderful female characters who do so many amazing things in Marvel. I cannot agree with this at all!!!! You are obviously not reading the right comics.

I refuse. In fact, I demand that these creators get a shot at bigger projects. I demand!

Marjorie Liu is co-writing Dark Wolverine (it's AMAZING) and is writing the upcoming Black Widow solo series. You should do to the Avengers board and look up her interview. I'm so pumped for that comic!!! Can't wait!

As long as all the stories are about making babies or making a sammich, I'll allow it.

I'd quickly like to commend you for spelling your name "Stephen" - which is correct - and not "Steven", which is a wrong name.

I've been disappointed in the anthology comics. The problem is it's hit or miss whether the writer works for the character, and even less if you manage to get a writer and artist you like, telling a story about a character you like. The best anthology, in my opinion, was the various Ghost Boxes for Astonishing X-men. They had a clear focus and concept, each one taking a "twist" on an X-men world ALSO dealing with Ghost Boxes. It gave you "more" than just a "fun story with [insert character]." Most of the other anthologies are just a bunch of writers writing some (probably unimportant) story about a character that no-one will ever reference again. It's too expensive, for what little you get. Which is a shame... because... I LOVE the anthology idea. I kid you not, I love it. But they rarely have focus or purpose beyond "nice story idea"... and sadly this "Girls Comic" is putting the focus/concept on NON comic issues... which is an instant FAIL! When "other issues" over-take the comic itself... we have problems. I really want great anthologies. It's an untapped potential. I hope Marvel keeps doing them, and sooner or later, hits upon a successful/meaningful formula.

Shouldnt there be an official Lady Deadpool variant cover to qualify this a genuine Marvel project?

Ghost Boxes was pretty boring, for me. I don't care about importance or continuity, I care about fun entertainments! That's why I prefer things like Nation X or Girl Comics. A quick dose of fun characterisation, and it's all done with.
