Default JMS or Quesada: whose version of OMD was better?

Saw this on another forum, and I thought that it might be relevant here.

Nrama: With you now primarily working at DC and your relationship with Marvel not as huge as it once was, how would you describe that relationship now?

Though Joe Q. has not spoken a word to me since I offered a critical opinion about Spiderman: One More Day, the rest of the staff at Marvel could not be more welcoming or professional or friendly, especially [Marvel Publisher] Dan Buckley (who had to move into the position of my liaison once Joe put me in the cone of silence).

Default JMS or Quesada: whose version of OMD was better?

Kind of getting tired of JMS's seemingly constant crap stirring. Things ended badly. Stop letting every interviewer know about it. It's not like he had a great idea for OMD either. We're lucky things were only as bad as they were. Man, he seems to complain a lot. Just my opinion though.

It strike me as JMS trying to stick it to him because Quesada didn't give him everything he wanted.

Honestly, it feels like some cliche highschool drama.

"Everyone has ben nice to me except Quesada who's being a jerk because I told everyone that I hated his story. Can you belive that guy?"

Any idea was better than Joe's.

By "Joe" you mean Joseph Michael Straczynski, right?

Silly me. Of course you do.

Who else would have wanted to undo the famous death of Gwen Stacy storyline and everything since?

JMS may not have wanted to do the story in the first place, but was doing it because his editor asked him to. The story he came up with may have been just his first draft of the story, and one he felt that played fair with the audience.

And it wasn't JMS alone that wanted to bring back Gwen. Plus, JMS wanted to undo Sin's Past while he was at it, so there's that as well.

Right -- it was a much better idea to undo the equally emotional death of Harry Osborn, break up a marriage quite a few fans enjoyed, and create a paradox that split the fan base in half.

    No, I meant Joe Quesada.

Damaging Peter's character was worse than bringing Gwen Stacy back.

And really, Alan, what's the big deal about undoing stories? Marvel's been doing that for years and years now.

    Let's see, JMS had...
Undoign the Death of Gwen Stacy
    undoing the Death of Harry
undoing the entire relationship between MJ and Peter
the supposed "paradox" still in place

    As published we had ...
    Undoing the Death of Harry
the MJ and Peter relationship still happened almost exactly
    "Paradox" still in place.

Yeah, obviously they should have went with JMS's idea. Nobody would have complained about that at all.

People are upset about undoing Peter & MJ's marriage and you think it would be a good idea to undo their whole relationship???

Thanks to Joe Q, Gwen was a slut.

Hey, if you are going to start a new status quo, go for the gusto!

Only because JMS wrote her that way.

When did JMS's idea get published? I thought there was hints to it but I never realized they leaked his whole idea.

No, I believe his initial idea was that the kids would be Peter's, but Joe vetoed it because we can't have a main character with kids out of wedlock. What would the children think?
