I can't say I'm excited about the premise that we've been given so far--lead by Ellis on auto-pilot no less, but I do like where Kaare's head is at and the promo we've been shown. He's the draw for me right now.

Andrews made an incredibly dull team look pretty spectacular. I don't think I'll read the mini, but the art and designs look fantastic.

Emma with a steaming load in her panties. Yum yum.
I love him.

Kaare is one of the most overlooked, but important artists working in mainstream comics these days. I'll buy anything he works on.
He's the kind of guy who would leave you in a k-hole to go play Halo in the other room
I like yet dont like the whole somewhat goth look to the characters.
I love his designs. It's so much better than Bianchi's abortions.
I really don't care for the proportions in that pic. Very 1990's throwback. Generic poses, absurd anatomy, and does Storm REALLY need to dress like that?
But I'll probably give it a look anyhow -- I liked Ghost Boxes. Haven't really warmed to Ellis's latest arc, though.
Kinda strange to me that Astonishing is considered the X-book with crossover appeal -- I wouldn't recommend it to a non-comics reader myself; it's actually very steeped in continuity. (The Wolverine/Cyclops/Emma/dead Jean dynamic, Kitty's relationship with Emma, Kitty's relationship with Colossus, and I never did know what she was doing with a pink dragon.) Torn, in particular, was continuity-heavy; I read Whedon's stuff before I read Morrison's, so I had no idea who Cassandra Nova was.
Don't get me wrong, I loved it (well...not Torn, but the rest of it), but it's not the kind of thing I would recommend for anyone who just knew the X-Men from the movies.
I'm digging the concept art. Simone Bianchi (sp?) kinda turned me off to Astonishing
I am not fond of the art in that picture but I liked the Spider-Man book he did. I wonder if Kitty Pryde has been fully demoted to Uncanny? I bet it's because she isn't coming back in an Astonishing issue. It makes her appearance in any future Astonishing collections anti-climactic and it undermines the first volume. I wish Fraction hadn't been so greedy.
