I'm loving Tony's run, and I really hope he sticks around after #700. His run so far has felt more like classic Batman (the O'Neil/Adams and Englehart/Rogers runs) than Morrison, Dini, and Winick. Plus he's finally dropped the Jim Lee style he had with RIP for his more traditional, realistic figures, so his good art is even better.
Yeah I like Daniel. Unlike so many Bat writers. He's actually writing the characters as they are meant to be. Not as he wishes them to be. He's a fantastic storyteller.
To be an X-Man means possessing a strength of will--of self identity-- that nothing can subvert." ... "For better or worse, being an X-Man means not merely being born a mutant... but a hero.-Storm
I haven't really been a big fan of his arc from a writing standpoint--it's very obvious that he's new to writing a story--but I'm willing to keep going.
He says he's dropped clues about the new Black Mask, but has anyone picked up on them?
I wonder what the significance of May 10 is...perhaps it has to do with The Long Halloween or Dark Victory? The Return of Bruce Wayne hits May 12, not 10.
Really enjoying Tony's work on this title these last couple of months.
He has really come into his own as a writer and I would like to see him get more work in the BATVERSE.
His art gets better every issue.
"You can't trust them as poets either. The true poet is anonymous, as to his habits, but these boys have to look, act, and apparently smell like poets"
Flannery O'Connor on the beats.
Ive been loving his run so far so im super glad to see him sticking around for a little bit more.
I know Tony Daniel has shocked many who were like... yeah right...he's jus an artist . I read that about his Battle for the Cowl when he was handed the assignment. But now... he's really showing he can deliver.
Each month he seems to get a bit better at what he's doing. He's re-introducing old classic rogues , he's creating new ones like Kitrina is interesting. She seems to be a great cat burgler and escape artist as a young girl. So perhaps....she will become Catgirl.
In all... its been a good run and I hope he stays on. Daniel could put togethor a run on Batman thats considered great if he stays past #700.
"Heads up-- If Havok's position in UA #5 really upset you, it's time to drown yourself hobo piss. Seriously, do it. It's the only solution." - Rick Remender
Sucks 200 character limit.
Tony Daniel is killing it right now. Easily the best Batman book on the shelves right now for me.
The thought occurred to me the other day, that it could be David Hine's new "No-Face" character. Arkham might be in on it, but No-Face's whole gimmick will be to pretend to be dead Batman villains from the past.
It was just a thought. I don't think that'll be the case at all. But that IS a role I'd like to see No-Face pick up in the future - revisiting past Gotham villains and pretending to be them when he commits crimes.
"Everything hs changed. ‘Dark’ entertainment now looks like hysterical, adolescent, ‘Zibarro’ crap." - Morrison, 2008.

Tony Daniel is amazing on Batman! Both writing and drawing it! I'm really digging where he's going and I will continue to read as long as he's doing it.![]()
Interesting interview, though I'm surprised the interviewer didn't ask anything about the upcoming fill-in's on the art. I take it the current arc ends in #699?
