Interesting but dont see it lasting. Kind of cool if they have a big storyline worked out from the beginning. I cant see how Amadeus is interesting without Herc.

    Thumbs up

The supporting cast of "Prince of Power" is rounded out by several more major mythological figures. "We are going to get up close and personal with a couple of other major pantheons, who are going to get the Marvel treatment in a big, big way during the course of this storyline," Pak revealed. "For a long, long time, we've also wanted to delve into the Egyptian pantheon and we're finally getting the chance to do that in this storyline. We're also going to see some of the Hindu pantheon as well.
"One of the great themes of classic mythology has been the risk that mortal heroes take by encroaching on the turf of the gods," continues Pak. "We're about to see the impact of the biggest transgression a mortal can make upon multiple pantheons in the Marvel Universe. And the end of the story will bring an insane twist that no one's going to see coming that may split the heavens themselves."

Sweet!! This is what I've been waiting for since the Marvel Mythology Handbook!! Bring on the Celtic gods, too!!

I wonder if Cho's brush with the Egyptian gods will bring him into conflict with Black Panther or Moon Knight?

    Here's a better interview . . .

    Heh, heh.

I might give it a try. But a lot of the appeal for this book has disappeared!

Oh ye o little faith! Pak and Van Lente have been knocking this series out of the ballpark very consistently, including the solo Amadeus Cho story that alternated with the Thorcules story where he fought Pythagoras whatsisname.

Herc has been hands-down my favorite Marvel title of the last few years. These guys have their hooks in me and I'm signing up for the entire ride.

    It's a mini-series.

    Erm, it's not supposed to last . . .

"Prince of Power" is both a mini-series and an ongoing in that it's the next stage of the story that Pak and Van Lente began telling in "Incredible Hercules." "In your longboxes [Laughs], I would recommend following Incredible Hercules' #141 with 'Fall of An Avenger' #1 and #2 and then 'Prince of Power.' Those stories just follow one right after the other. So, it's a mini, but it's the next stage in this storyline and sets up the next huge incarnation of this book," Pak explained. "And when 'Prince of Power' ends, the story will continue in a huge way, but I can say no more about that.
Fred and I have made an extra special effort to make Prince of Power new-reader-friendly. Yes, we're paying off some major things we set up earlier in the series and launching an insane new era in the "Incredible Hercules" saga (just wait 'til you see how this baby ends!). But if you've been tempted to check the book out, this is a great place to start.

    Hindu Pantheon???

Well, this could be interesting in the good way, or in the bad way. I still remember that debacle over Lord Shiva. That was really offensive.....

Don't you guys read between the lines? This is a mere mini-series starring Cho that is more likely than not leading up to Herc's return to the title.

Van Lente: The tone is the same -- although it's a new #1 and a... minor shake up of the cast, PRINCE OF POWER is the natural continuation of the INCREDIBLE HERCULES saga under a different title.

And who knows? We may not be done evolving yet... (laughs evilly)
    And from Marvel.com . . .

Though Amadeus will receive a massive amount of power in the coming months, he may need even more to complete a very personal mission.

"He's going to spend much of the series getting even more power, in order to rescue someone close to him," hints Van Lente.

I only picked it up for the Agents of Atlas back-ups.

But kinda started to like Herc. Cho doesn't interest me at all. Especially as the star.

Don't care. I don't wanna read a book starring Cho. He was fine as Herc's sidekick.

OK, your choice -- but to me it’s like saying you don’t want to see “Return of the Jedi” because your favorite character was Han Solo and now he’s frozen in carbonite.

He was only frozen in carbonite for the beginning of the movie. And Han isn't everything.
