Default CBR: Remender Hunts Monsters with "Punisher"

In the current "FrankenCastle" arc in "Punisher," writer Rick Remender gave his protagonist a new monstrous physical form. For the next act, he's giving him a new purpose: destroy monster hunters. CBR spoke with Remender about the series.

Ha ha ha... I am totally pumped. I love Remender's vision for Frank Castle. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea in so far as it is categorically surreal, but for me it really hits the spot. And when he says that Frank will be back, badder than ever, and taking down these chumps in a big way - that makes my day.

I have a hard time getting into the Punisher, so i initially passed on this story, but I have to say, I'm intrigued by it. I may pick up the "Frankencastle" arc. How long has this been going on? And I guess frank doesn't know about Daken.

Painted Dan Brereton art? And is that a Shogun Warrior I see? Damn, this storyline keeps getting better and better.

I'm just waiting until this ridiculous arc is over. I hope it doesn't go on much longer.

    Thumbs down Epic FAIL.

Remender found a way to come up with a story line that sucks ass more than Frank Castle: The Avenging Angel.

Frankencastle. I'm wondering how he pitched this crap to Quesada with a straight face and how much crack Quesada was smoking when he approved it.

    Worst.

    Storyline.

    EVER.

So you're still reading it? You know, in case it gets good or because you're a completist.

Actually that is the only reason I am buying it. I love the punisher. I am just really tempted to immeditely seal this up in a bag and board.

Dumbest thing to do to the punisher.

Well, without FrankenCastle, I wouldn't be buying the Punisher (nor would I have bought the back issues of Remender's run). Fun as hell. And having Morbius and Jack Russell around doesn't hurt.

When you buy a book that you hate, even if you're a completist, you allow the cycle to continue. So you're just going to get more of it because...you become part of the 'problem' by adding to their sales.

On the other hand, thank you. I like the current work Remender is doing on the book, and would like to see it continue.

“Frank's involvement in this story is mildly personal in that I don't think anybody had shown him any kindness in a long time. Then in 'Punisher' #12 we saw a moloid stumble into his cave and offer him a candy bar,” Remender stated.
O.K. now this is funny as hell. Going for farce with a character as played out as the Punisher is isn't a bad idea, really.
