Well, real life tends to get in the way, AND I generally keep Usagi at the back (faves in back, others at the beginning) of my "to-read" pile which has become my "to-read" boxes and so about each month I file another issue and think to myself that I'll eventually get around to reading it.
I did read a slew of issues a few months ago, but I've fallen behind again....

so does anyone know when the complete fantagraphics usagi is coming out?
Yes, don't buy the series because of problems that the ex-publisher of the series is having.

Ouch. Ok, I'll admit I came on bit strong, but I've been wanting to follow the story for awhile now. I even went as far as to add some of the books on my amazon.com wishlist only to delete them when I heard about this collection being release a year or two back only to find that it hasn't come out.
So yeah, I came on bit strong, but this was the result of year or 2 of annoying delays compressed in 3 sentences post.
All that stuff is available affordably in different formats. The floppies go for about a dollar each, I get the trades free on paperbackswap.com. If you wanted to read it you could read it. This isn't just another Superman rag pumped out on a regular schedule by a periodicals company, sometimes you have to wait for something truly great.

im planning on starting with volume 8 ( the new edition that is coming out this year) while i wait for the complete fantagraphics collection
Went to a comic convention and brought a couple of Usagi stuff back with me. I got Fantagraphics #30, 32 & 37, giving me all of the 30s. I also bought the second and third color specials, as well as the Summer Special. I also bought Book 22.
I was kind of disappointed, as not all that many dealers had Usagi Yojimbo comics, and those that did were kind of pricey. The numbered Fantagraphics were $6.00 and all from one dealer. The others weren't that bad, as I got the color specials were $2.00 for both and the TPB was 50% off cover price. The coolest price was the summer special, where I asked the guy how much it was (wasn't marked) and he pulled out the latest price guide, quoted the price and then gave me a discount.
Couldn't find DH #59, but they had all of the other 50s (for current cover price so I skipped them for next year)
