Yes. It is awesome. And also one of the few comics that I've bought for years without dropping at least one time.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.
I'm trying to catch up. I have a long way to go but have bought over 30 back issues this month alone. It is an awesome series, one of the best. Not just here and there either, but consistently for the past few decades Stan has put out awesomeness on a tight schedule![]()

This is a character I'd seriously consider picking up. I've got one more VIZBIG book to go in the DragonBall series, after that I might have to look up the samurai rabbit.
What about essential trades? Anybody got a top three?
I suppose if I had to pick one story to start with, it would be "Grasscutter" but I would always say that you should start from the beginning.

Yep! One of my fave comics.
I'd say really, you need to start at the baginning. The First Trade has just come back into print (as well as the 2-7), so pick that up if you cant track down the issues.
PULLS: Morning Glories . X-23 . Kick-Ass/Hit-Girl . Ultimate Spidy . Runaways . Usagi Yojimbo
I've sort of dipped in and out since the first series (due to the Turtles crossover) and I have recently started getting it every month again.
Oh how I wish I'd never stopped, it's one of the few comics (in my opinion) that is created for all the right reasons and with dedication.
Highly recommended.
The fun of the story is that Stan builds the characters and weaves fun plot cross-overs (not n the bad sense of the word).
While the story is written so that you can jump on anywhere, I think you will get the most enjoyment out of it by starting at trade # 2 and working your way up.
If I am not mistaken, the first large story arc is the Dragon Bellows Conspiracy in Book 4. That is a very fun read as well.
oh, yes. Usagi Yojimbo is at the VERY top of my list of 'must have every issue' comics. Have been with him since Fantagraphics, and with him still. Ahhhhhh.

Besides Usagi, I really like Tomoe. And Gen of course.
