Smallville: Absolute Justice Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

It's tonight, boys and girls! Are we ready to squeal like little children over the things we like and then bitch like aged fanboys over the things we don't!?!

To those new to Smallville know this going in: it's poorly written, period. Aside from a lack of logic and plot holes you could push Mogo through (where is Supergirl, for one), the writers often try to emulate some type of witty dialogue and fail so miserably you doubt if they could even spell "wit" much less conceive of its proper application. The words coming out of the mouths of the actors are often so ill-conceived and clumsy it makes the actors sound like they're naturally foreign speaking and learned their lines phonetically, especially the poor actress playing Lois (or maybe she's just the worst actor, I'm not sure). Just set your expectation levels very low and you might have a good time.

While that's usually true, Geoff Johns wrote this one so I can't imagine it'll be as bad as usual.

But Johns wrote the excellent LEGION episode.

I can imagine this one will be very good as well.

I like the show, haven't seen it much lately due to lack of access due to my TV being lost. I see that CW airs it on their website and I watched last weeks episode and loved it so I think it is still good, love Green Arrow and I think this should be turned into the Superman, Green Arrow, and so forth film franchises, with these actors and continuity. Looking forward to this butt I hope they put this episode up on their site right after it airs. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to put it up on their site?

I'm really looking forward to it, but I have a Ballroom Dance party to go to tonight so I'll miss it. Rats! I guess I'll have to watch it tomorrow.

It was surprisingly good. Aside from the cheesy costumes, I enjoyed it, especially Fate's character. I also liked the casting of Carter (without the costume). I didn't care too much for the actress who portrayed Stargirl...it was almost as if she kept looking at the screen or stumbling some of her lines.

J'onn J'onnz got his powers back, thanks to Dr. Fate...who suffered an unpleasant fate (pun intended). We also got a glimpse of the red cape with the "S" on the back. My favorite part of it was when Clark was staring at the JSA picture, as well as their weapon and costume displays. I also liked the addition of Pam Grier as Amanda Waller, and the introduction of the Suicide Squad (of which it was revealed that Tess was working for them all along). They also mentioned the transition from the golden age to the silver age of which Clark is destined to lead.

A lot has happened, and a hell of a lot is on its way either throughout the rest of this season, or during the next.

For the most part I agree with Jay Dogg. I liked seeing the cape with the actual 'S' on it (fanboy moment for me), all the JSA stuff in the museum and the mentions of the Golden Age as well as Clark leading the Silver Age. The only part I didn't like was the dude playing Hawkman. He was really channeling his inner Bale as he sounded halfway normal out of costume but sounded like he ate a bag of rocks when he was Hawkman. Solid two hour episode though.

With the revalation at the end it leads for multiple ideas they could use in the future.

It could've been better, but it could've been a lot worse.

I enjoyed seeing Ted, Alan, Wesley, Ma and the rest of the flashback characters, as well as the shout out to Michael Holt. Good stuff.

I think the scene in which Waller was introduced could have been done better. It's Pam Grier from god's sake. Show some respect.

Also, Smallville needs a new casting director. Stargirl and Icicle were atrocious.

The cape with the "S" was something of a recap moment as something similiar happened in an earlier season when someone who can see the future also saw the cape flying when Clark touched him.
