Re-reading the chapter, there's a small panel where Bellamy seems to sense the King Punch about to arrive, so...Haki maybe?

Yeah, same here. Haki has been shown to be an effective power that really gives an edge to already powerful figures.

I mean Marco could fight an admiral quite well thanks to Haki and even without it, he was a beast in any sort of fight.

...Really makes you think Ace didn't really understood Haki or gave himself the time to learn it, since despite the fact his DF usage and strength being ridiculously top notched to count him as a commander in Whitebeard's group as well as being equal to Jinbei, the lack of actually hurting an Admiral when those fail for him really hurts his overall effectiveness.

Still, he did went Hell far without it if his bounty offers a clue (yeah, its not exactly gauging power levels but it's still quite impressive)

I just thought the Admirals who are at least a decade older just had better experience mastery with Haki. From what Caribou has shown logias need a lot of time to train themeselves to use their powers really well and he got his some time into his pirate career not many years before like Luffy.

Yeah, Caribou didn't even seem to have the standard "reflexive transformation" deal. Or he was intentionally letting himself get beat up by people who didn't have haki.

I still suspect busoshoku haki can be used by logias (and other df users) to maintain their bodies' invulnerabilities, which is why Akainu wasn't hurt by Marco and Vista, and Aokiji wasn't killed by Whitebeard.
