Default Flash! Bang! PAF! Jubilee Appreciation

    JUBILEE

I'll start off by saying, it was refreshing to see someone like her be given a chance to play an active role on the X-teams back in the day, thet even though she lacked longevity, in comparison to characters like Storm and Psylocke, she was already kicking butt, whether it's helping out in Genosha, going to the outer limits of space, and eventually having a major role in Generation X...

Why should you care about Jubilee?

    First of all
    http://forums.comicbookresources.com...d.php?t=249134
People care whether or not she's in an X-book.

Also, she's been around longer than a lot of these new characters, and by new, I mean the current students. I appreciate that she has matured throughout the years and can be looked up to by most; she's not perfect and not liked by everyone and that's ok. She's not just Wolverine's sidekick, but she's her own character, and grew out of being the Robin to his Batman. She's lived and lost, whether it be a friend or her powers. Even then, she was strong enough to overcome all those obstacles and come out on top in the end. She has her own look going on for her. She's not over-elegant, but is no plain jane, and dares to be different fashion-wise. Her powers have potential to be deadly, as seen in the Age of Apocalypse and according to those who have observed them. It's a shame they're gone, but here's hoping they come back and she can do some awesome stuff with them, not that making fireworks isn't. Overall, I appreciate Jubilee, I hope you can too.

Her nationality is American, not Chinese. It's different from race.

What should Jubilee's new catchphrase be?

    Bejoobies?

    Bohunk?

    Other? (Make one up!)

    ALSO...

How were you first introduced to Jubilee?

For me, it was the animated series in the 90s.

Considering Bohunk is a derogatory term for Eastern Europeans, if I'm not mistaken... that should not be her catchphrase.

Besides, FERAL had it first, yo.

    The way I see it.

Jubilee visits/joins (I wish) X-Factor, calls Guido a bohunk under the impression it has a different meaning, is corrected by M who rolls her eyes at her, Jubilee then gets annoyed by M.

I would pay to see a book with those three interacting.

I was first introduced to her by the cartoon series. However, I first began to like her after a neighbor of mine gave me two things: The 1998 Marvel Handbook Update and Uncanny X-Men Annual '89. Between the two of them, I got a better feel for Jubilee's comic book background. I loved the whole backstory with her being orphaned and spending some time in juvenile hall then running away to the mall and finally living under the Australia base before becoming an official X-Man. I'm a sucker for the whole "clever street kid with a heart of gold" archetype. So, I liked the comic kid who seemed surprisingly capable of fending for herself much more than the cartoon version who seemed to constantly require babysitting. Now, she's a favorite character of mine.

as big as she was in the 90s, it is amazing that she has "never" been depicted in the X-Men films yet, beyond some background cameo at best..curious..

Well, she was one of the main characters, of not THE main character in the Generation X film. She had a few speaking lines in xmen 1 via deleted scenes. She was captured in the second film and had a few lines that were in the theatrical release... As well as a deleted scene specifically titled after her, "jubilee at the museum." It seemed as if she was going to be a bigger part in the third film, until Bryan Singer left production for the Superman movie... And she was reduced to a two second cameo. Bummer really.

The other thing you have to remember is they were using a young (relative to the comics) Rogue as audience surrogate POV character and Wolverine's ward. That was Jubilee's role in the animated series, and giving it to another character restricted what they could do with Jubes.

Anyway... about time the new Jubilee and Baby Coipel art was posted in here :)

You can tell that Jubilee is fairly new to the whole taking care of a baby thing. She's got to two most weaponized parts of a baby next to her face. The feet and the butt. Also I really love this art, it is super cute and totally in line with Jubilee's character to wear polka dot socks under her uniform. Also a nice detail with the Totoro doll as Jubilee's Gen X days showed her dorm adorned with various anime things from Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Tamagotchis. So it is perfect that she got the baby a Totoro doll.

it was the animated series and she annoyed me as hell in that. I didnt like how she got such heavy focus in it. I think my first comic with her in it was UXM 303. What a powrful issue. She annoyed me as well in the beginning but she really turned things around in the end and I felt for her
