Yeah, you've got to give it to Anne Baxter, she had it going on.

I had no idea that was a remake, never mind a remake of a movie he originally did. The more you know.

Photography wise it was a beautiful film, all the that open landscape was captured so well. Impressive directing, camera work too. My first John Wayne and he wasnt very heroic but he had something a presence. My first John Ford film too and not the last by long shot.

After i get done with Peckinpah westerns maybe.
I know you don't care for heroic westerns, but Stagecoach is a must-see film. The ensemble cast is fantastic, the stuntwork is still damned impressive, and the movie is where the Ford/Wayne magic started.

Also, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance should be right up your alley.

For a great non-Wayne Ford film, check out The Grapes of Wrath.

    Ed Wood-Tim Burton.

I think this is my new favourite Burton film. He made a really good movie about Hollywood's worst director. I dig that.

Pissing myself laughing at this movie.

CUT! I love the way Depp's character just filmed scenes and moved on the next ones straight away.

    Why?

    It's perfect!

Office Space, for the first time in a few years. Still quite amusing, but not really an outright gut-buster.

I dont mind heroic Western if its John Wayne western like i said he has what you need in a western.

Actually wouldnt mind a top 5-10 list of his films. Im wondering because i have to rent them online since i cant find old westerns in actual rental stores.

I know True Grit which he won Oscar for. I know Alamo, seen The Searchers plus you just mentioned Stagecoach,The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

Specially looking for a film where he plays a stoic, grim hero like he was in The Searchers. Not a typical western hero in that film.

He's definitely a bit different in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

Besides that and Stagecoach, you should check out:

    The Cowboys
    Big Jake (for fun)
    Red River

Thanks Jesse i blame Johnny Cash for my rabid westerns film watching. I have become addicted to Johnny Cash for some reason, i keep listening to songs like " Dont Take Your Guns to Town", "Johnny Yuma, the rebel"

Johnny Cash and the western genre are both fucking great, so that's fine.

Have you watched any of the weirder westerns, like Dead Man or The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada?

I LOVE LOVE ED WOOD! (the film of course, not so much the director)
I have watched this a few dozen times on VHS (old days) and DVD. It's in my personal top ten list and the best Burton film IMO as well. It's brilliant. It's smart and funny and filled with great actors, much like Dr. Strangelove and the Big Lebowski. I may have to watch it again tonight now that you have mentioned it.

    The Town--Ben Affleck.

Brilliaint. It's too late in the night now to post much about it, but it's definately one to see again.

I had to look up the Tangerine reference on wikipedia.

    The Switch

Ya know what, Jennifer Aniston really needs to stop making movies. Seriously, every single other actor in the film completely overshadows her. Sure, it was a pretty rubbish bit of schmaltz but she did make it all the worse.

Pretty good movie, it's kind of cool when they use technology from 20 years ago and it's all cutting edge for that time.
