Just re-watching the first three Prophecy films. These were the films that got me interested in actors as well as characters. Christopher Walken's acting bowled me over to the extent that I looked for other films purely because he was in them.

    @mcgaffer
Yeah, Walken is awesome as Gabriel. I love that guy!

Thanks for the info and I will definitely check those out, MST3K is brilliantly hilarious

    HOLIDAY AFFAIR

A feel good Christmas time romance in the same vein as It's A Wonderful Life, this one starring Robert Mitchum as a charismatic dreamer and toy salesman who is tryng to raise some cash to make his way back to California so he can pursue a career in building boats when he falls for a young and somehwat broken Widow (Janet Leigh) and her son. Throw in a kind and pragmatic fiancee lawyer to complicate things and away we go. Mitchum is joyfully fun in this, a far cry from his brilliant but maniacal villains or ice cold noir heroes. It's good to see him play this part and it works. It may be summer time but I got a kick out of this holiday classic.

Although it's Walken-less, the fourth Prophecy movie is pretty good, too. The one after it is garbage, though.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Not amazing, but I liked it. Vastly better than Clash of the Titans, a movie it closely followed a year back. Interestingly enough, the two movies share a female lead, and while she looked good in Clash, she is *staggeringly* beautiful here.

Resident Evil: Degeneration - This was the CGI amimated film. It was okay as a late night watch on Fear.net but nothing I would have paid to see.

finally, after ten thousand years i saw:
The Devil's Advocate (1997) 2.5 star Drama?, Thriller?
Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron, Al Pacino
    on SYFY

if it weren't for Pacino and Theron, this movie would be zero stars. why would the devil hole himself up in a law firm in a city? he has the whole planet to corrupt? oh, maybe he was waiting for Keanu.

charlize theron's character is the best (i think). well-acted, and her change is interesting.

i just didn't like the feel good ending. it didn't make sense.

    my star-rating: 1-1.5

    Batman Returns (1992) 2.5 stars
    on TNT
Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito, Christopher Walken

i've seen this countless times. why don't i own this?
have always thought this was the best Bat-film. ever.
don't understand why it's rated so poorly.

    my star-rating: 3.5- 4.0

the hands of orlac [german] (1924) don't know what it's rated

awesome german expressionist cinema. interesting story, good set design, direction and acting.

starring the famous actor Conrad Veidt, who later was an American actor and very anti-Nazi. he played a Nazi in 'casablanca'. "the hands of orlac" has been remade several times, but i guess the original is the best.

    my rating: 4.0

    Drive Angry (2011) - 1/5
Terrible movie that was so eager to please, beating you over the head, but it just came off as desperate and annoying. Too bad, too, because the basic premise was cool and Nicolas Cage was awesome as usual.

    Surrogates (2009) - 3/5
Not a bad movie (it's a decent way to spend a Saturday afternoon), but it's never quite as compelling as it could be. The subplot between Bruce Willis and his wife was more intriguing and would have made a stronger movie.
