sonny boy attended a muay thai seminar with enn fairtex sat morning, so naturally we watched ong bak sat night. he was pumped, awesome movie.
Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order
Dark Shadows. It was an early 70s soap style sprinkled with a modern sense of humor under Burton's Gothic eye.
It was fun, even if I had to put up with the soap stuff (which at least had closure in a film).
Keep in mind, I like all of Burton's stuff...even Planet of the Apes!

avatar was on tv over the weekend, watched some of it late friday night. it definitely wasn't the same as seeing it in 3d in the theater but there was still some enjoyable stuff. it's not something i could see myself watching over & over again, though.
and i'm counting 1, counting 2, counting 3...

The Deaths of Ian Stone (2007) - Deaths tells the story of an all-American guy who is murdered each day by horrifying pursuers, only to wake up in slightly different lives to experience the terror of being murdered again.
I really enjoyed this film.
Madison County (2011) - A group of college kids travel to a small, mountain town called Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book on the accounts of several grisly murders that happened there.
A run of the mill slasher film.
The Dead (2010) - When the last evacuation flight out of war-torn Africa crashes off the coast, American Air Force Engineer Lieutenant Brian Murphy (Rob Freeman) emerges as the sole survivor in a land where the dead are returning to life and attacking the living.
Beautiful scenery and the story wasn't all that bad. A good zombie flick.
I went over to the Internet Archive and watched The Brain that Wouldn't Die the other day.
Y'know, I know it's supposed to be utter schlock, but I love this stuff in the most unironic way possible. The whole "head being kept alive in a pan" thing is actually a really cool sci-fi/horror visual.

I really liked it. Very stylish actioner from Sodenbergh. Super cast with Ewan, Fassbender, Tatum, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton and Banderas all supporting the gorgeous and bada$$ Gina Carano. Hands down the best film performance from an MMA star so far. Like a female Bourne or Rambo (First Blood) she just annihilates everyone in awesomely shot ways. Great sounds too, angles, lighting...very cool ambience overall....I really dug it.
that's some trippy shit, which reminds me if anybody is interested in watching old mexican movies staring luchadores like el santo, or blue demon check your listings for galavision on saturdays. on the west coast directv it's usually on from 1-3pm just before CMLL wrestling. no subtitles available but if you got a joint they're not really needed anyways.

"Hobo with a Shotgun"- title pretty much says it all!
Someone took a page from 80s splatter films and the more recent extreme Japanese stuff like "Tokyo Gore Police" although nothing went quite that far.
It was over the top and kind of funny. I don't know if the ending was supposed to be "deep and meaningful" or if they just didn't know what else to do to wrap it up.
Probably would enjoy it more if I had seen it with some friends, and we can make jokes about it.
"There's not much of a difference between a stadium full of cheering fans and an angry crowd screaming abuse at you. They're both just making a lot of noise. How you take it is up to you. Convince yourself they're cheering for you. You do that, and some day, they will. And that's how Sue Cs it."- Sue Sylvester, "Glee"
I would avoid this film because of the MMA star but getting this good review by someone like who knows his films, who taste i can trust sold the film to me.
The cast except Tatum sounds very good. Fassbender has the best agent or the most hungry agent in Hollywood. The guy is in every good film made in US/UK these days. Superhero,Alien Prequel, Shame,Croneberg film etc
Pull List:
The Walking Dead,Fatale,Near Death,Storm Dogs,Happy,BPRD,XO-Manowar
American Vampire,Animal Man,Swamp Thing
Daredevil, Winter Soldier,Indestructible Hulk
Yeah, Fassbender is busy checking names off his "great directors to work with before I die" list. He is in demand and rightfully so, he is quite good while appealing to male and female audiences alike for various reasons.
Carano proves very capable for this role. There isn't a lot of dialogue or emotion involved...just action and style and she serves up heavy doses of both. she is actually quite good. I was impressed. Hats off to Sodenbergh for casting and using her this well. And I am extremely surprised myself to say this, shocked even, but Tatum's s small role and performance was one of the highlights of the film. I almost wanted to see more ofnthe character than we got. I know he has been cast in Magik Mike and seeing how he worked with Sodenbergh here, may end up checking that out as well.
