A really good film if not the director best, it made me feel sick to my stomach because it was brutal, dark in a real way
I love that movie, it's so good, really interesting story with great action. He's got an American action movie coming up with Arnold Schwarzenegger, if you haven't seen The Good, the Bad, the Weird you should check that out too.

Not really sure how it's an answer to Park-Wook's revenge trilogy, those movies also have a pretty grim outlook on revenge. To me it was like an antithesis of Batman, while still being a perfect Batman movie. You could draw an analogy between the two in a few different ways, right down to the main characters game of catch and release beings like the revolving door of Arkham Asylum.

Matt Dillon leads as "Rusty James," Dennis Hopper, Nic Cage, Chris Penn, Diane Lane, Larry Fishburne and a tremendous role for Mickey Rourke at the height of his powers. The Motorcycle Boy Reigns! Check it out.

Finally saw Cabin in the Woods last night. I liked it. It was a lot of fun. I believe it has been discussed at length around here already so I won't go too much in depth. I did see a full sized companion book offered on Amazon that covers all the references, Easter eggs, etc. that Whedon and company threw into the film. That speaks volumes , pun intended.

Bridesmaids. The best jokes, which were utterly hilarious, were in the first half or so. Then it becomes more of conventional chick-flickish comedy. It didn't turn to crap, but it definitely loses something. Also, a couple of the supporting characters just kind of vanish and there's no followup on their subplots.

I rewatched the John Lennon bio Imagine over the weekend. It was just as interesting as I remembered, love how John interacted with others (sweet and vicious) and really took on the hard truths of the world and himself. It is a terrific film taken from hundreds of hours of home footage and audio so that John tells much of his own story, even after his death. Editing brilliance there.

Punisher War Zone (2008): I found some errors, but not enough to bash it, minor nitpicks

The Punisher (2004): I don't know if the Director's Cut resolves the scenes that kept me hanging unexplained, but I still think it's the best of the 3 Punisher movies. I like his origin here more than his comics origin

Drive Angry: an intentionally awful stab at 70s exploitation fare. Not one I'll watch again.

I was in a '50s sci-fi mood, so I got It Came From Outer Space and Earth vs The Flying Saucers out of the library.

Interestingly, they take two different takes on the Earth being visited by aliens. In the former, they're here accidentally. In essence, their car (er, ship) broke down. In the latter movie, the aliens have clearly come to conquer. The first movie also plays more with unease and paranoia while the second is more of a special effects movie about an alien invasion.

Every Vigilante isnt Batman like. The guy was more like Punisher, sick revenge guy than Batman. I doubt Batman would torture the villain and then get his own family killed, tortured ;)

Park revenge trilogy and specially old boy is world famous, dont you think a film that was very similar but anti-thesis version isnt influenced by those films. The reasons dont matter it was a quality film to show revenge doesnt really work well for you.

The director is one of my favs, i dont care at all about his hollywood film!! They dont get directors like him and wont give his freedom. Lee Byung-Hu did GI Joe film for godsake.

Korean creators are their best in korean films and nothing else. Like Jackie Chans best film isnt Rush Hour, John Woo's best film is The Killer he made in HK and not Broken Arrow, Face Off, MI2.....

When played as something more real Batman is a sick revenge guy. I would say the main character in I Saw the Devil is far more like Batman then the Punisher, like Batman he's trying to strike fear into the heart of the criminal. What I Saw the Devil is saying is that this is ultimately a foolish mission. He isn't really doing this for justice, he's just doing it to make himself feel better, and in the end his actions were meaningless and have left him in a worse place then he started at.

It very well could be influenced by his revenge films, but I don't see how it's the answer to them. And there's been a lot of revenge movies in the past few years, in there own way the Batman movies are revenge flicks also(the 1989 one being the most obviously so).

Watched Moneyball last night. Actually a pretty good movie. Fat Jonah Hill >>>>> skinny Jonah Hill. I was pretty impressed by his performance.

There was a movie last night on Film4 here in the UK called "Huge" about stand-up comedy. I never thought I'd see a film about stand-up comedy I liked less than "Funny People" but this was it.
