G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra
As a huge fan as a kid I had to see it. While I didn't hate it, as I suspected I might, I felt a few things were lacking or wrong. Namely, I never saw Duke as having a comedic side. Plus the Barroness story was bad. Strangely, I liked Scarlett the movie character better than I ever liked her as a comic/cartoon character. I enjoyed Vosloo as Zartan as well.

I watched "Harvey" with James Stewart. An interesting and also funny movie, with also a deeper message it seems. I liked it.

    Rumble Fish

Not bad, not great. It had some great visuals but it's far from the best I've seen from Francis Ford Copolla.

    The Hurt Locker

A very good film, deserving of its best director and best sound awards. It's a seriously brilliantly directed film with good acting and sharp dialogue. Unfortunately, to me, it felt more like a sequence of set pieces with some character bits thrown in in between than a fully developed narrative. Also, it is excessively long and could easily have lost twenty odd minutes towards the end there.

I take it you don't feel it should have won Best Picture? I didn't either.
It is a good film though.

Yeah that is what I was getting at. Like you say, it was certainly a good film, just not that good.

Memories of a Murder(2003) another great Korean film. Visuals, acting wise and the great story, writing. A very powerful story.

Must be one of the best if not the best crime drama i have seen. For a film about chasing a serial killer it was much more.

The Korean cinema must have its Golden age these days like Hollywood in the 70s with Godfather,Scorsese films etc

    Notes On A Scandal (2007)

Great movie, I didnt realize how sexy Cate Blanchete and Dame Judi Dench were.

I agree with Sherlocke Holmes, that was a good film indeed.

I just happened to catch the original Clash of the Titans on TV, and I have to say... Looking at the trailers for the new film 'remake' I doubt it's going to live up to the original.

Even with the outdated... EVERYTHING, that movie was just awesome.

Judi Bowker is (was?) smoking hot as Andromeda.
    Bad news everyone...

    Hot Tub Time Machine

Okay, for the title alone its worth seeing.
Great cast (Cusack, Corddry, Duke & Robinson were all great) with Crispin Glover doing some scene stealing at times. Wild premise but a nice comedy.

How to Train Your Dragon. Even with the spring showing, this should be nominated for best animated picture next Feb. It's that good.

"Extract" - it was pretty good, I was hoping for better. It's not like I didn't laugh or anything, but I don't think it was up to the level of "Office Space" or "Idiocracy."

"Stop Making Sense" - or at least I got halfway through it before the DVD stopped playing. Curse you, Netflix!!! It was completely awesome up to that point, though.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Based on a kids picturebook (so you know it had 20 minutes of story, tops), it wasn't too bad. Fast paced with some jokes aimed for the adults in the audience (see the pet monkey throwing chocolate snow balls) and a "be yourself" message. Worth seeing (especially since it was this weekend's free flick at the local theater).

I went to see Hot Tub Time Machine today and while I wouldn't call it a classic, it was funny movie and well worth the price of admission.

i watched Ghibli's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea". It's a good Ghibli movie again, but i wouldn't count it as one of my favorite movies from Hayao Miyazaki. Still worth watching imo.
