    YES YES YES!!!!
    Chris Yost MAKES IT RIGHT!!!

FINALLY addressing her time spent at the prestigious rich kids' asylum!!
    The TRUE Emma Frost origin!
None of that Astrid Bloom BS.
Sorry Astrid fans, but THIS is the Emma I know. Betrayed and broken, forcing her to become the cold, detached White Queen. Her teaching and/or den-mother-esque desires motivated by her terrible childhood, hoping to ensure other mutant children need not endure such mistreatment.

    Thank you Mr.Yost!

This doesn't mean she never met Astrid Bloom, though. Both still happened now.

And, actually, she just remembered this happened in X-Men #13, so it's not like she lived her life knowing what happened. Guess we'll find out more in the next ish, though.

Yep, this would have occured near the end of high school. Emma met Bloom at college.

I'm not denying the Astrid junk happened. Sadly it did. I don't do the selective cannon thing like some readers. If its printed, it happened, and there's nothing I can do about it. I don't have to like it.

I WISH they would ignore it and retcon it saying that those 'college years' were delusions she'd experienced while drugged up in that cell.
Some sort of coping mehcanims of the 'treatment' they'd used to suppress her telepathy or something...

THAT would make me even happier.

That would be sad if the 6-12 issues were retconned....what a waste of money. I was a big fan of the first volume, not really the second - they could have done without that - and I liked the third, but they weren't that bad.

Yost doesn't even like Emma, so I've heard.

Maybe his dislike of Emma will motivate him to 'erase' those college years, as I'd previously posted.

I'm pretty sure she would still remember being hospitalized though, just the memories of the Evos will likely be wiped.

    I haven't, and I wouldn't really believe it either.
(PS: CBR forums is NOT a credible source!)

Don't be silly. Referencing those years in this tale for no benefit but confusing readers would be bad story-telling. Not something a pro like Yost would do.

Not likely the X-office would allow it to be ret-conned either when they just released the collected edition timed for the movie.

Wouldn't you like to see an Emma Frost solo series where Emma takes a break from the X-Men for a bit - sort of like Cyclops in the Bryan K Vaughn mini - and she goes on vacation but ends up meeting a bunch of new and old villains and friends from her past? It wouldn't be OMG SUPER SERIOUS LIFE CHANGING EVENTS, but it would be a lot of fun with some heartbreaking stories as well...

For example, she could meet/clash with Christian Frost and the alive Frost family, Madame LaFarge, Astrid Bloom, etc...

I would love to see Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa write it...he's done some really fun issues with Emma, such as Nation X #4. Kathryn Immonen would be a good candidate too...she's worked on Heralds and Pixie Strikes Back. Tonci Zonjic could be good as an artist...she's done the Heralds stuff too.

True...I heard this in a Marvel interview though..it was a couple years back, and he said he was more of a Jean fan, while Kyle was more of an Emma fan since they both mingled in New X-Men. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't like Emma.

That is common knowledge in these parts, but preferring one character does not equal disliking or even not liking another one (as you said).

About the Uncanny renumbering to #1.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110616/...x_men_s_return

Does anyone else get the feeling that it might end with Cyclops getting disappeared? Anything else would not really validate statements like "we promise that this is a story-based reason for `Uncanny' to come to a close" and "It's not your father's `Uncanny X-Men.'". Uncanny X-Men has been said to be "the story of Cyclops" some times the last years as well.

Cyclops continuing to lead his (non-departing) followers the same way as he's done since after Second Coming would not really warrant this change imo. But it could of course be that he changes his methods and tactics in some non-trivial way as well.

But if he does "go away", does anyone see Emma continuing to support his goals and ideals or would she follow Wolverine? (Assuming there will be no third way)

Maybe as in disappearing, he will not be in the spotlight so much.

I would hope Emma forms her own team and leads it, like she did in New Mutants and Generation X...instead of having just two ideologies with the Prof and Magneto, Emma actually had her own. But I doubt this is going to happen.

    Lol, Yahoo comments....

    LOL you all are crazy.

First, I've read in many interviews that Yost loves Emma. So no.

I will be impressed with Yost if he cleans this up. But it will most likely be more complicated. Oh well.

I love that Xavier goes to invite Emma to the team like 3 times... here, Deadly Genesis, Origins.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

Emma fans should be thrilled that she was sought after so many times.

I've yet to see evidence that confirms this love. He posted here that he loves Jean more than Emma.

christ yost is a professional comic book writer, so he won't bring individual bias into his work...but the more origins one character has, the more complicated readers feel...
In dog days, all we need is Frost.
