He actually has a lot of potential as we were discussing above. Son of M was doign a good job of breakin him down to rebuild him, but the run got cancelled and he got reverted back to the arrogant comic relief. I still think he is a great character.

His only sense of revelance was when he was an X-man (well, X-factor member). And I did enjoy him in the 90s cartoon.

And evil pietro sucks worst. Maybe if he wasn't a flash clone, I would've enjoyed him more.

That's my point about Son of M. If that story had been finshed we would not have seen 'evil Pietro' and his powerset got a change. I imagine Hine would have matured him and moved him into something more. And closer to what we had as far as a hero, and most likely beyond. I'm down with any story writer that is willing to invest in a character's growth. Even Xavier and Jean......who I despise. But a good story is a good story.

I totally agree with you. Granted, Pietro isn't one of my favs, but he, like many other mutants can be redeemed. I didn't even know Pietro had a different powerset. I have to look into that, its great to know.

    But, NOOOOOOOO not my Jeannie!

    LOL j/k

The only characters that can't be redeemed are Cyclops and Bishop. And I love Bishop, but he is now trashed. Some say White Queen isn't either, but I love Emma as the tainted heroine.

    And thank you btw. :)

Well..........he did. It got retconned. Being a massive science geek I thought it was a cool take, but it's gone now. Son of M was a great story if you haven't read it. And probably my favorite Magneto ever (for the 3 pages he was in it)
    But, NOOOOOOOO not my Jeannie!
I keep asking for people to give me a really solid Jean story that will make me like her. I'm open to change. I loved movie Jean but comic Jean just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

I love Emma too. I also love Scott. I'm so bummed his potential after Whedon's run was wasted. But I don't hate him now, I'm just waiting for him to get better or something. I understand where his character is coming from, I jstu think it was a bad move to make. I loved Bishop too, another character I just feel bad for. Great illustration of how one can just keep burying themselves though.

I think any character has to be somewhat redeemable as it is a staple of comicdom, which is why I love it. Not that Red Skull or Bishop may ever be able to be forgiven, but I think it would be really powerful if Bishop does something to at least show he recognizes what he was become. Not that I think he can be redeemed to the level of being a hero again, but I am a sucker for the sinner who repents.

OH NO! I really hate retcons.

Get Planet X. That was a great Jean story. Other good ones was Eve Of Destruction, The Genoshan Massacre, X-Tinction Agenda, and the classic Phoenix story.

Yeah. I am going to miss Bishop. I am pretty sure him or Cable will die in second coming.

Cyclops has done way too many unforgiveable things. Abandoning his wife, abandoning his son, placing the X-men before his son, refusal to accept his daughter, cheating on his wife (whether telepathically incluenced or temptation), and forcing a relationship and pissing everyone off. He is unredeemable in my eyes. Oddly, I don't hate emma for any of those reasons lol.

Did, several times. All except the classis one (which I read when I was druck so it doesn't count cause I don't remember it) I kind of want to see Jean not save the day for once and how she deals with that. One of the reasons that she rubs me the wrong way is I can’t remember ever seeing her fail. I hated what Morrison did to her and Emma. I felt like he devolved them into squibbling school girls fighting over a boy. Jean has had girls after her men before without it turning into a cat fight. And I think she was a bit uppity for getting annoyed about Scott/Emma when she was making out (okay I exaggerate) with Wolverine in the forest. I thought that was a pretty low blow. Morrison is a hell of a story teller but he takes his liberties with characters IMO. I know this is blasphemy, but I am the one poster here who does not hate Planet X, but my take on it is really really unique so I try to avoid the discussion about it.

Another blasephemous thing was the ending of Ultimatum. You have Magneto who was completely insane, repent and fixes things at the very end. He is obviously completely mental, and had no clue what the hell is going on. He asks for forgiveness, and is told he will get none, not ever. I figured this was Loeb’s commentary on the state of redemption of villains…….apparently he is against it. Now, Ult. Mags had done some insanely unforgivable things, and not just in Ultimatum, but I worry for the return of black and white characters in the 616 which I find a bit boring.

I just think Scott is still a kid in way over his head who thinks he’s got everything under control. I’m not saying all of those things are forgivable at all, but he has always seemed out of his depths, except for when Whedon had him. And even he acknowledge that Scott needed to become something more. I understand, not disliking Emma, I love Batman for the same reasons I can’t stand Jean. Both of them are always the ace in the whole and the one who comes up with the answer to all the problems.

I can see why. Out of all the X-characters that have ever existed, Jean is the most innocent. She is a goody too-shoe. But a very complicated one. She is a diamond who is in the ruff. And well, her and (Kwannon-influenced) Betsy did kinda fight a little. That story is another topic.

If you want adjectiveless jean grey, the best jean grey was perhaps in X-treme X-men #18-22 I believe when her and Storm have girl talk.

Mags might go down for the most retconned character ever lol. I love Magneto but somebody always fuck him up.

LOL good point. Well, at 31 years old, I say Slimm Dayspring has a lot of growing up to do. Believe it ir not, Cyclops use to be on of my immediate favorite X-men. Until I saw the real 616 scotty boy lol.

Wolverine gets that honor. And the worst back story in the history of ever.

I love the character, but I honestly think that the most well put together ending of all of this would be Scott dying at the end of 2nd coming. Not that I want him too, but he is owned by his 'cause' dying for it is all he has left to do. I think it will be Emma though so we will get the return of 'moody' Scott until Emma returns as the new phoenix.

So I never do this, because I am old and it makes me feel silly, but all of you were not posting and I was bored. I sent a note to Marvel the other day just saying that I really like Mann working on the x-books and I hope to see him on them agian in the future:

"Don't worry. He's coming back! We love him on the X-Books."
    return address was Nick Lowe.

    Yay!!

LOL him as well. And him having 50 books doesn't help either.

I would love if Cyclops dies in Second Coming. It will actually have some kind of importance. But since that wont happpen, that only leaves Cable and Bishop to die. They aren't touching Emma, since she is the new Storm.

And noooo more Phoenix hosts! Leave it to Jean (and maybe) Rachel.

Other than the possibility of repowering mutants (or maybe, just maybe the return of Jean), second coming seems like a lot of fail.

His Rogue, cookoos, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Blindfold are the best renditions I’ve ever seen done rivaling Jim Lee’s work. So I’m excited that he will be back.
