I haven't been following Uncanny, but why are Gambit and Bishop both hated?

I imagine it's due to both of their treacherous ways. Gambit becoming a Horseman and Bishop turning into Ahab over Hope.

    Time to nerd-out:

Do you suppose that a character with some sort of magnetic field-related abilities or control over magnetism would be able to affect Moonstone/Eeeevil Ms. Marvel adversely?

I'm trying to write a fan-fic and am wondering if magnetism would affect the Moonstone itself somehow.

I have no idea. But I don't think the moonstone is made of metal.

during 'blood of the apocalypse' gambit volunteered to become a horseman to more or less keep an eye on apocalypse; he bit off more than he could chew and had trouble overcoming apocalpyse's influence.

he later appeared alongside sinister as a marauder, seemingly back to his old self but still allied with an enemy.

gambit has made peace with xavier and rogue but few others thus far. he's living on utopia but is mostly keeping to himself & still dealing with the effects of being death.

bishop was revealed to be a traitor during messiah complex; apparently he had come back in time to kill the mutant messiah, whom he believed to be the cause of his hellish future. once hope was born bishop only had one remaining goal in life and was committed to seeing it through at any cost.

bishop fought the x-men, shot xavier in the head and eventually disappeared in the timestream in pursuit of cable & hope.

during his pursuit bishop destroyed the world and killed millions (if not billions) trying to force cable & hope out of hiding. the x-men learned of his actions and eventual plans, tried preventing him from continuing but he again escaped and again pursued the mutant child, which he is still doing to the present time.

i think gambit can still be redeemed but bishop is lost; the only way i see bishop being a hero again is if another version of him shows up or if it's revealed that this bishop isn't the real deal. even if he's right, and hope is the cause of his future, he's done far worse trying to stop it from happening than what it actually was.
    and i'm counting 1, counting 2, counting 3...

Surely it would, I would think ... I'm not sure if there the moonstone would have many, if any, counter measures against magnetism.

I haven't seen anything related to it.

It generates light based energy (as seen by Moonstone's energy beams etc) so that would suggest possibly a photon based origin? Which is easily manipulated by the power of Magneto, since photons are an integral and present part of the EM Spectrum.

All speculation at this point, I suppose..

    Here's a question:

What terminology do we use to refer to the current teenage characters of the X-Universe? The collective of Hellion, Surge, Elixir etc. Are they referred to as New X-Men, New Mutants, Young X-Men?

Most people on the forum still refer to that incarnation of X-teens, that generation, as the "New X-Men". Sometimes, I personally think it would be better to call them "Academy X Students", since that was the the sub-title they got after "New Mutants (vol. 2)" got cancelled. Although... "New X-Men: Academy X". It got dropped after the Decimation, but they still were students of the school at the time, and of the same class. The title became known simply as "New X-Men (vol. 2)".

That's just me, though. "New X-Men" tends to do it. Although, it is starting to feel weird. As is calling the "New Mutants" new, after like 25 years. Calling them the "second genesis" is another way.

Up until Generation X, each class got the "genesis" concept, in a way. The O5, while never called the first genesis of mutants, were the originals. When "Giant-Sized X-Men" came out, the "All New, All Different" team had the story title revealed as "Second Genesis". New Mutants debuted not long after, in "Marvel Graphic Novel #4" and "New Mutants (vol. 1)", they were part of the "Second Genesis". Rusty, Skids, Rictor, Artie, Leech, and Wiz-Kid all ended up being the X-Terminators, who learned under X-Factor as opposed to the X-Men, but as it was the same era, they could be considered a part of that second genesis.

Generation X #1 had the story title of "Third Genesis", which it was the third time a whole team of mutant teens was formed, and considered to be the newest generation of mutants to appear.

And while it was never listed anywhere, when Xavier opened up the Institute to become Academy X to mutants everywhere, outing the school's identity as a mutant academy to the public during Morrison's run, it was the huge "Fourth Genesis", although it was never listed on panel as such. It was the era where we got Hellion, Rockslide, Surge, Mercury, Wind Dancer, Wallflower, Elixir, etc. You could include Graymalkin and Cipher as part of that group, as well.

In theory, with her age and all, it could be debated whether or not Hope Summers will be the start of the "Fifth Genesis", or if she still is part of the fourth. Considering she's been the only mutant born since the Decimation... she's the gateway to #5, in my mind.

Again, it's all just labels. But the group you're thinking of is more commonly referred to as "New X-Men".
