I love how Rick went from holding 1 Mini-Con in 2003 , none in 2004 , to these wild damn plans of holding 5 events . And some was 2/3 day deals.

If it makes you feel any better, all I have left to be is a woman with hair that she could use as a weapon or the team's crossdresser (not that there's anything WRONG with being a crossdresser - just that James is in deep denial about it).

I've cosplayed as James and crossdressed, so I guess I'm both James and Meowth. Jessie is your destiny.

That's always been his thing...post a bunch of bullshit and hope it comes true somehow, with other people doing all the work. Orcomx lasted because Dennis was the mailer and did all the work, for nearly a decade. Fresh came out because the Stronachs and others did all the real work (and edited Rick's small, always late contributions into English).

The guy couldn't run ONE con a year, and he's pretending he could run all these?

It's funny. No one showed up to his comic convention. Why would he think he'd do any better in other genre forms?

Despite saying many, many times that he owed no one, here he is admitting that he was a deadbeat.

On the good news side of this matter -- Several work-for-hire talents
that worked on the TALES of THE SPOOKY #1 book will be getting paid
the monies owed them. To their credit (and I wish I could list their
names, but I can't) they never broke their confidentiality agreements,
despite having TightLip Entertainment fall in arrears (financially and
communicationally) on its responsibilities to them each.

Actually, I was thinking more along the line of Wile E. Coyote, and the Roadrunner... but Wile E. has some panache.

These comparisons are never going to work. All those silly, dopey, constantly-failing villains at least tried and had some skills.

I bet Wile E. could run a great con.

... criticizes an Indy Artist (who in general work at least one other job--while drawing the most time-consuming thing there is to do in your comic book) for being slow, or lacking talent--after YOU hired them based on that talent. ...
Didn't Jeff ink JT? Sometimes the 'mesh' between an inker and penciler has to be fixed, to make it look right as finished product. As great and immensely talented as Jeff is, I had to fix some of his inks on a project of mine--because, either the scans I made of the pencils were blown out, or the combination of me and him was just wrong on a face or a figure, here or there. Sometimes Jeff 'fixed' things, and I returned them to the way I wanted them--or, in a couple of instances, left his corrections alone. Perhaps, like with JT, less than 5% of the work was that 'back and forth'--an organic process between people who know what they're doing. It's the process of making sure everything is as right as it can be. It's 'nuts and bolts' shit that you've never paid attention to,...

Thanks for that Jim. And I'd like to state right here, I've never claimed to be the F-A-S-T-E-S-T artist out there. But I am pretty darn fast at stopping work when I can see I'm not going to get what I was promised out of it. (payment). As for how Jeff and I work out our artistic creations, it's as you said... a back and forth thing. We tend to work together very well, and I feel we've got a sort of "short hand" of thinking where I can put something into an illo that he'll pick up on and tweak or whatever. I've never told Jeff to not "enhance" my pencils if he thinks something's going to look even better. I have at times, gone back with him and we've discussed some items that I felt either didn't look right, or should be redone. But overall, I'm always satisfied with what he does with my work. In his own words, Jeff always calls it "fixin' it", or "the doctor will take care of it"... But then again, Jeff's a southern boy... and they're always "fixin" to do things anyhow!!!'

But if you were to put it straight to Jeff, as he has told me many times, he loves working on my pencils! If he were to have to constantly correct whatever I've done, I think he'd get sick of it pretty quick and say "maybe you should find someone else!"

At the very least, all the guests would be well fed and entertained, even if the con organiser nearly gets killed.

Pssh. Rick knows as much about art as he knows about how to wear a clean, unsmelly shirt. You have more talent in your finger than he would if he lived the million years it'll take him to keep his word on anything.
