Not "buy," but I just got a copy of John Hodgman's The Areas Of My Expertise for my birthday.

The other two The Man From the Diogenes Club and The Secret Files of the Diogenes Club are definitely worth tracking down.

They're also out of print and ridiculously expense on the secondary market.

I actually have access to them, but would like to pick them up. But they're way too heavy at this point.

Newman is slowly re-releasing his back catalog, so I'd say there's a pretty good chance we'll see new editions in the next couple of years.

I bought two 2nd-hand books today:

    Adam Bede - George Eliot
I tried to read one of Eliot's novels years ago when I was a teenager - can't remember now if it was Middlemarch or The Mill on the Floss - but didn't get very far with it. I've always meant to try something of hers again, though, and this is the one I've settled on, one of her earlier books. I'll probably read the other two as well, one of these days, unless I end up really disliking AB.

    The Magic of Lewis Carroll
Never heard of this before, but picked it up after seeing it at the used bookshop - book of puzzles by Carroll. Looks like fun, and I'd already been planning to re-read the Alice books sometime the next few months, so this should fit in nicely.

I backed away from those when I saw how much people want for them. Shame, they sound like fun.

I put a bid on "Neighbors," and I was going to bid on the novelization of "Halloween III," but it was too expensive.

Hippie Cult Murders by Ray Stanley (obviously a rift on the Manson murders) - I like reading the trashy cash in novels written in the 60s and early 70s on the darker aspects of the counterculture, pricey but I hope it's good.

On the non-fiction side, Dario Argento Contemporary Film Directors series. I am hoping to find another Argento book as good as Broken Mirrors/Broken Minds, plus this one focuses on Dario's visual sense which is amazing.

I picked up the David Mack Star Trek novel Cold Equations #2 - Silent Weapons yesterday.
